The GOP/Trump have $807.8 MILLION on hand for the midterms. The Democrats have only $259.1 MILLION for the same fight. Yet it is basically a forgone conclusion that we’re going to get trounced. We literally have more than double their resources. Why aren’t we deploying?

Nobel laureate physicist, George Thomson*, said, "Probably every physicist would believe in a creation [of the universe] if the Bible had not unfortunately said something about it many years ago and made it seem old fashioned." He was commenting on the emerging Big Bang model versus the steady-state theory of the universe, but I believe the same dynamic applies to the idea of God himself. In a philosophical vacuum, stripped of all the cultural and religious baggage, I firmly believe most physicists would conclude that a transcendent, timeless, immaterial intelligence best explains why anything exists at all, and why the universe is so precisely suited for life. I'm convinced, because: A) This is by far the most sensible, elegant, and efficient explanation; and B) When I talk to scientists and science-adjacent people about this, their objections are not usually logical, but emotional. We don't quibble over transcendence or immateriality. More often we end up talking about how evil and suffering can exist, or why God was so angry in the OT, or why evangelicals vote for Republicans. These are all interesting questions, but they have nothing to do with the pure explanatory power of a conscious creative force behind the universe. I might start calling this the Thomson Rule: If there were no such thing as religion, probably every physicist would believe in a Creator of the universe. * Thomson, like his father, physicist J.J. Thomson, was Christian.

@older_bud @JoeyMannarino That’s not gonna go how you think it’s gonna go. If the democrats win, this will be the last time we have real elections.

@Milton059632847 @KatKanada_TM Everything fit into basically an infinitely small point (small distinction). The correct answer is “I don’t know” There are theories like “the zero energy hypothesis” that basically say everything equals to zero (look it up). May or may not be unknowable from our perspective.

@KatKanada_TM Serious question: where did that single piece of matter the size of a pinhead that exploded and created the universe come from?

"The universe isn't eternal because observations (cosmic microwave background, redshift, Hubble's law) show it began in a hot, dense state ~13.8 billion years ago—the Big Bang singularity. If it were eternal (infinite past), the 2nd law of thermodynamics would have doomed it long ago: entropy (disorder) always increases in a closed system. Stars would have burned out, black holes evaporated, and everything reached maximum entropy/heat death an infinite time ago. Yet we see ordered structures, fusion-powered stars, and low entropy today. That requires a finite beginning with extremely low initial entropy. No infinite regress works."

@alrightyman @sarahsalviander @grok explain why our finite universe cannot be eternal. Include the 2nd law of thermodynamics in the explanation.

Mexico is passing the US. Only Americans are dumb enough to be conned into believing the US cannot afford universal healthcare. Thanks to a decree signed by President Claudia Sheinbaum on April 7, Mexico is implementing universal healthcare, beginning January 1, 2027.

@truebotman @GuessWhoDimwit @LizZezima @maddenifico Univeral health care sounds appealing but in reality it is rationing. I have lived outside the U.S. for years. Most of the countries had universal health care which was a two tier system. Poor people got rationed care and rich people had private insurance.

@truebotman @LizZezima @norhloudspeaker @maddenifico Why not use your head for a minute and realize you’re suggesting the solution is to give our corrupt govt - who already spends more on health care than any other govt and is failing in terms of performance - even more money and control. That’s just stupid.

@randompnwguy84 @JumboMcMuffins @Ugh_Firemaker @noahsarkscans Zero evidence in a heaven or hell. Zero evidence believing in any god will grant you access to this imaginary heaven/ prevent hell. Hypothetically it’s just as likely getting access to some random magical positive outcome is achieved by being atheist/ having rational thought.

@truebotman @JumboMcMuffins @Ugh_Firemaker @noahsarkscans You’re not thinking critically at all. Funny thing is, purely based on chance alone when you die, you will go to hell or it’s over. So you’re in a loose loose situation and you think that is critical thinking . lol Zero chance of a positive outcome for you
