My cousin who lives abroad sent me 200k cash gift on my birthday last two years. he didn't send last year. Yesterday my birthday he sent 200k again. And I respectfully told him the economy last 2 years is not the same as this years'. 200k naira is less than 200 dollars. I know how much his wife uses in buying wigs from Nigeria through me. I'm not ungrateful or feeling entitled, I just feel he can do more.

Nigeria just happened to my friend over the weekend 😭😭🥺 So he went to akute for the Easter holiday and on his way back on Sunday at night around Ojodu , slightly after Opic He was in a car with his friend, the other guy that was driving noticed a car following them and later see that it was a police (those one with black vest) car. They cornered them were questioned and they answered as they don’t have anything to hide, they asked to see their car, they checked and saw alcohols and they said it was from the party they are coming from. The police countered them that they were yahoo boy and they answered he is not, my friend is a banker and the other guy is a surveyor and he show them his business cards and my friend is not with his 🆔 but he showed them his picture at work. They were still insisting they are frauds , demanding to check their phone , they checked and held on to the phone that they have their evidence in them and will take them to the station. The police man face the my friend saying why did he have picture of machine with numbers on his phone if he is not an hacker, he answered that he is a cash officer and those are his ATM machines , then the police said he kept the picture so he can fraud the bank . They start threatening them that they would shoot them and nobody will know, that they should better cooperate with them and that was around 11pm , they were later asked to open their bank app. Lo and behold, they transferred all of the money in their account my friend 1.1 million , his friend 2.3 million !! And they left them there 😫

@_Nursepreneur A side to this conversation, a child climbing the cabinet to get cereal is a safety issue. While you may be making a case for grits and smartness in children. It's a safety issue for an 8yr old to climb cabinet without stool! There is a thin line btw independence and safety.

One of the scenes I saw #BTS was when Aderonke was panicking because her son was trying to climb up to get snacks (or something) for his sister. That boy looked about 8–10 years old, why can’t he safely reach heights in his own house without fear of falling? This is one of the parenting flaws I notice in many rich or average Nigerian homes. Their children are almost useless because there is always domestic help available to do everything for them. It’s sickening.

My friends told me that my wife has a very unpleasant smell down there. Apparently, they noticed the bad smell at some of our gatherings. she sweats, and this foul smell permeates through her clothes. I used to think this smell was common in woman In my 26 years I have only been with her so I thought this was normal. but now some of my friends have told me the same thing. so one night I decided to talk to my wife about it and suggested she goes to the doctor, thinking it might be a sign of something wrong. However she didn't react the way I expected. she started to cry and asked me how I could say something like that.

Calvary Greetings in Jesus name. First of all, we don’t serve one God. There’s only ONE GOD, THE WAY not one of the ways, THE TRUTH not one of the truths and LIFE and that’s JESUS CHRIST. Saying ‘one God’ does not automatically mean it is the same understanding of who God is. In Christianity, God reveals Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus is not just a prophet; He is God in the flesh and the Savior of the world. The Bible says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God” (John 1:1), and Jesus Himself said, “I and the Father are one” (John 10:30). In Islam, however, God is strictly one person, and He has no Son. Jesus is regarded as a prophet, not God. The Quran clearly states that God does not beget nor is He begotten. This directly contradicts the Christian belief about who Jesus is. Christianity is built on the belief that Jesus is God and the only way to the Father, while Islam rejects that completely. Both positions cannot be true at the same time. The Bible also makes it clear: “Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father” (1 John 2:23). So from a Christian standpoint, rejecting Jesus as God means rejecting the true revelation of God. In conclusion, We don’t serve one God. Selah!

Children smashing up shops in broad daylight, stealing and even filming themselves doing it as if it were a game, is a much bigger problem than is being recognised. This is a total collapse of consequences. To those making snide comments about race or black kids - you do not see scenes like this in Lagos or Nairobi. Not because the children there are different, but because actions have consequences. There are clear boundaries. Parents, communities, and the authorities do not wring their hands or look the other way. Here, we have created a culture where too many young people believe they can do what they like and nothing will happen. That is the problem. And we should be honest about where that leads. If a child loots a shop today, films it for social media, and faces no real consequence, they are going to do much worse tomorrow. This is why under my leadership Conservatives are focusing on ENFORCEMENT, not just making more and more rules. Our Take Back Our Streets Campaign is about getting 10,000 more police officers, immediate justice and immediate punishment. But let’s be honest, this is not just a policing issue. It is a failure of authority at every level. Parents need to know where their children are and what they are doing. Discipline should start at home, not in a courtroom. We have also weakened the system around them. Deterrence is the backbone of criminal justice. Labour have changed the law so anyone receiving a sentence under 12 months will automatically walk free, instead receiving a suspended sentence. When people believe offences like this will not lead to meaningful punishment, we should not be surprised when more of it happens. You get more of what you tolerate. It’s not like we haven’t been here before. In 2011, when riots spread, the Conservative response was swift and visible. People saw consequences. And behaviour rapidly changed. That is what is missing now. This all comes down to fairness. Law-abiding people should not feel like fools while gangs smash and grab without consequence. The sad truth is the communities most damaged by this behaviour are often the very ones these young people come from. Only one approach will fix this: clear rules, real consequences, and the confidence to enforce them. It’s time to Take Back Our Streets and bring back a culture of enforcement.
Festus Akinbusoye@FestAKINBUSOYE

Personally, I would have required they all were arrested and their parents/carers come to collect them from police custody. Contrary to comments and narratives being pushed by some, this is not a policing problem, but rather an insight into what the future may hold. Young children during school half-term, decide to storm a store and cause absolute carnage, steal from the business in numbers and cause significant alarm to other members of the public while filming their criminal activity for content. Where does this sort of behaviour graduate to? What is the logical next step from this? How many of the parents of these children will know what they have been doing?

After mama Chidi story, a lot of people have been sharing in my DM... Here is one My father ordered a suit he never wore. The tailor called six weeks after we buried him. Number saved in Baba's phone as "Alhaji Tailor Sabo." The man said he was sorry. Said the suit had been ready since December. Said whenever I was ready, he'd be there. I went in March. One room shop. Singer sewing machine by the window. Bolts of fabric against the wall. The tailor was older. White kufi, measuring tape around his neck. He brought the suit out wrapped in plastic. Dark navy. That kind of fabric Baba only touched for serious occasions. I asked what it was for. He said your father's retirement dinner. February. He'd been planning it quietly for months. Wanted to surprise your mother. I stood there and felt something move in my chest. My father died the third week of January. Eleven days before his retirement. Nobody knew about any dinner. The tailor folded his hands. He said I've known your father since 1991. He never told anyone his plans. He just executed them. That was him. He paused. He said once, maybe 2016, your father sat in that chair for almost two hours. Said he was carrying something heavy. Didn't say what. I just sat with him and let him talk. He left lighter than he came. He smoothed the plastic over the suit. After that your father brought food every time he visited. Chin chin. Fried meat. Once a flask of soup still hot. I looked at this man I had never seen in my life. My father fed him for years because he listened once without being asked. I reached for my wallet. The tailor shook his head. He settled everything in December when he dropped off the fabric, he said. Paid for the suit in full. Left a little extra. Said give it to whoever needs it. I wore the suit to my cousin's wedding last month. My mother saw me in the living room before we left and went completely still. She said where did you get that. I told her. She sat down on the nearest chair and didn't speak for a long time. Outside the car was running. I let her have the moment. He made the suit for a dinner that never happened. It found its way to a wedding instead. Next time something else. It'll keep going. He always dressed for things before they arrived. Turns out this time was no different
