Doves class have designed and made light up greetings cards as part of their DT week project… and what a brilliant job they’ve done! 💡

First we used knives to whittle our sycamore sticks, then we wrapped dough around them, then we cooked the bread over the fire… then we smeared it with chocolate spread 😋 @ACEdoves

This morning we learned the technique of single layer tile printing with Kandinsky’s visual language to create art that tells an emotional story. Great job, Doves! #AltyCEArt

Art week got off to a flying start this morning as Doves explored works of art from abstract artists such as Kandinsky and Rothko, and wrote their own definition of this style of art. #AltyCEArt

Doves loved making replica Bronze Age jewellery from clay today. Looking forward to painting it next week…

Living out the value of koinonia in Doves today as we all worked together to make a giant storyboard. Great sequencing, vocabulary and teamwork everyone, so proud of you!

How do characters act in a story? Doves did some role play to find out! (Then we watched the “rushes”;on the big board.) Everyone was a superstar, well done.

As an introduction to our new English key text, we took a trip to forest school. The children found hidden clues, and enjoyed a small snack, which features in the new story. Following this, they made predictions about the book🥚

Great scientists collect evidence and make careful observations and that’s exactly what Doves have been doing in their investigations into soil. Keep asking those curious questions everyone! 👩‍🔬

In our science lessons we have been learning about light. Today we looked at how shadows are formed when light from a light source is blocked by an opaque object. We had fun using torches to investigate how and why the size of a shadow changes💡

Doves have been learning about the Vikings in History! They kick started the topic by freeze framing key events to make a timeline. They had some really creative ideas! Can you guess what they are acting out in these pictures?

Collaboration is key! These photos were taken in a PE lesson lesson week. The children had some time to discuss their plan of action, and they managed to think of some excellent strategies. It was great to see clear communication and team work! 💪🏿
