Getting from archipelago to archipelago is one thing -
But intra-archipelago travel is just as important
Routes within Hawaii, Guam, etc are too short to fly & make maintenance the main cost driver

@Boenau @TT_Fietser Cyclists and pedestrians avoid roundabouts because they are difficult and dangerous to use. So you need to control for this bias.
And yes the Dutch (and some other countries) have better models but those are not typical.

fatal crashes ⬇️ 90%

But since traffic engineers have come to like roundabouts, bike/ped advocates figure they must be bad. 🤦♂️

One way cities can become more family friendly is to incorporate a restaurant with a patio into their park playgrounds. I went to South Bend's new Howard Park with little kids recently & we let them run around before/after eating while the parents talked at the table. So nice.

Let's be honest - there is a period of 6-12 months when you simply cannot take most toddlers to a restaurant and have anything resembling a normal sit-down meal experience. I assume this is when most ipad kids are born.
