My bit @LabourUncut on why the Labour gloom is being overdone. Progress on what *really* matters to voters - cost of living and NHS - is being ignored for SW1 psychodrama. History shows that if this progress continues, Lab will be well placed to win again labour-uncut.co.uk/2025/07/04/the…

The case for hope: Why Keir Starmer’s situation isn’t as bad as reported and Labour victory at the next election is now MORE likely after the past year- @AtulHatwal on why the gloom is being overdone and missing what matters most from Labour's year in govt labour-uncut.co.uk/2025/07/04/the…

@residentadviser @LabourUncut Starmer poll has dropped but that is partially becos govt comms being inadequate for the modern news/comment cycle. I suspect if there was an elex tomorrow we'd get a similar result, Farage still splits the right and wld help drive tactical voting on left to block Reform

@residentadviser @LabourUncut BoE independence was a big move but entirely technocratic with no discernable impact on the public. As piece says, there was no narrative or philosophy linking Scottish devo, Min wage and BoE independence other than 'modernisation'. Blair filled the space and carried it (1/2)

@residentadviser @LabourUncut Starmer doesn't fill the political space like Blair, but in terms of policy, today is not miles different to the position going into 1998. Key change is the media environment, there is now a HUGE content gap btwn what's supplied by govt and what's needed to keep the beast fed

@DavidMorton359 @LabourUncut Yes, completely agree. Lots of potential for local/devolved harm where protest is the main motivation for voters before things get serious at a gen elex. Many costs to Farage, but his impact is likely ultimately most negative for the Tories

@AtulHatwal @LabourUncut I think this is very plausible for the next GE. But before that they can do real damage to Labour's councillor base and cause chaos at the Senedd and Holyrood.

New from me @LabourUncut - the political upsides for Labour of Nigel Farage: He splits the Tory vote, drags the Tories way too far right and will unite the fragmented left wherever Reform are challenging to take a Labour seat labour-uncut.co.uk/2024/12/28/nig…

Nigel Farage is a malign influence on British politics but he’s also Labour’s greatest electoral asset. He splits the Tory vote, drags them too far right and unites the left. @AtulHatwal on the upside of Farage for Labour labour-uncut.co.uk/2024/12/28/nig…

Wouldn’t have thought it was a good look for @Airbnb to keep cancelling delegates’ bookings in Liverpool for the forthcoming Labour Conference, in favour of more lucrative bookings. Perhaps needs raising inside the conference?
