@BillColarulo Signing Garcia and standing pat last offseason was complete GM malpractice. He should have went out and got a bat for the small window left not a prove it contract for a guy coming off of a letdown year.

People love talking about hot seats in Philly. The only person on the hot seat right now should be Dave Dombrowski. He was given a top 5 payroll to build a team. With that payroll, the Phillies have no right handed power in the OF (again!), no back end of the bullpen leading into Duran and now no back end of their rotation. We were sold on the idea of “we’re not running it back” because the likes of Otto Kemp, Adolis Garcia, Brad Keller, Justin Crawford & Andrew Painter would be here contributing. How has that worked out? All this on the heels of countless swings and misses over the years: Merrfield, Hayes, Kepler, Walker, Romano, to name a few. Bringing back Rob Thomson also proved to be a mistake. When the Phillies inevitably come up short again this season, Dombrowski should take his Hall of Fame résumé somewhere else.

Yeah I’ve been one of the biggest proponents of staying patient with Painter, but he has to be sent down. There’s no growth happening. He’s getting shelled and not making it three innings anymore. He’s still young and there’s a lot to like long term, but not right now.
