*gets in lyft* Me: Hi! Him: Boy, traffic in SF is crazy, right? **20 minutes later** Me: ... and so, if you compare the SFMTA staffing capacity against our CIP and the structural deficit on the city’s infrastructure... Him: sir, get out of my car

Just saw a guy park his BMW in the bus stop in order to saunter into a cafe on MacArthur Blvd. The 57 came by moments later to drop off/pick up riders -- in the street -- and took a picture of his license plate :)

@AsFanByDesign @linusalf Maybe a better comparison is the original Texas Rangers renderings vs what they ended up building - especially with the recent news of price escalation on the Bally's site. Value Engineering is a hell of a drug.

The new pathway along Bolivar at Aquatic Park in Berkeley is now striped and nearly complete. Paid for by the developer of the adjacent office development.

How can this list be accurate when it doesn't even have Oakland's Hot Dog Mayor?

Sharrow haters rejoice! CA Senate Bill 1216 was signed into law on Sept 27, prohibiting these shared lane markings on streets w speed limits over 30mph, starting Jan 2025. Then 2026 they’re also banned for projects over 25mph funded by the state Active Transportation Program.

The Oakland/Caltrans "Vision 980" study looking into repurposing the 980 freeway corridor between Downtown & West Oakland is underway. Take the survey online & comment that they need to set up a Hwy 980 open streets event in 2025! dot.ca.gov/caltrans-near-…

@CarterLavin Would have liked them to stack the data by severity (murder & violent crime at the bottom) rather than frequency (most reported at the bottom). It makes it hard to compare violent crime changes when they're stacked in the middle and bouncing up and down b/c of other data.

Loving the clarity of the new Oakland graph. It shows recent crime stats along with who was Mayor (top line) and Police Chief (bottom line) at the time. Would be cool to see something similar but average rent or housing construction!

@prinzrob Class I have different design standards in CA MUTCD for things like shoulders, vertical elements, etc.

State law says Class IVs "provide a right-of-way designated exclusively for bicycle travel adjacent to a roadway & which are separated from vehicular traffic". So that makes a sidepath w a striped pedestrian lane a Class IV, even if it acts more like a Class I?

What is the actual, specific difference between a Class IV separated bikeway versus a Class I multi-use trail? Don't say "a separate pedestrian lane/space", because some multi-use trails have that.

@BikeBlogChris @aceckhouse @TribTowerViews The image above is from ACTC’s presentation to the Berkeley Transportation Commission last week. There is some preliminary Caltrans ADA curb ramp/driveway work happening on San Pablo Ave right now, so maybe that’s what Berkeley staff were referring to for 2024.

@BikeBlogChris @aceckhouse @TribTowerViews Currently the estimated construction even for the "parallel" bikeways project is Summer 2025 - Summer 2026, unfortunately. If the bus/bike lanes project stays on track it'll have been a solid 10 years from start to finish.

this land use plan took almost 10 years?? like, i dunno.. even transportation projects seem to make more progress in that timeframe with detailed engineering. a second transbay tube could be designed in 10 years #oakland (i don't work in land use, so plz explain reasons to me)
