@primelayla He thinks he's above Bill because he cheated once. When in reality he cheated multiple times with the same woman. He also did it while she was suffering. He's weak. The show wants to still portray him as the good husband who made one mistake.

Bill unlike Theodore has earned his kids’s trust back and never gave up after he betrayed their family. Theodore is nonchalant and so flippant about the pain he’s caused and thinks that his kids should just get over it now. #BeyondTheGates

I think it will be an obstacle for them and that obstacle will be related to her mother's crimes. Rn he sees her as crazy but in a harmless way.
