@BobSlayer @RitaSuszek @HughFW To cope with the heat they use 100's of fans and massive A/C units, which just increases the heat and dumps it outside. I wonder if ground temperature has increased (London Underground). LEDs have been equivalent for a long time now!

But as bad as all this is the insistence on using archaic inefficient lighting at @edfringe venues. Halogen, which produces light as a side effect of producing heat. In one of the most inventive city's on the planet, built around @EdinburghUni.

Having a great time at the #Edinburgh Festival, but it’s a #plastic nightmare, with most bars and venues insisting on plastic for all drinks (except cans). I get the wish to avoid broken glass, but SO MUCH PLASTIC. Anyone here found a good solution? #WarOnPlastic #edfringe2019
