I live in Edinburgh so this doesn't affect me but it affects the festival as a whole. I love this city and I am incredibly proud we host the largest arts festival in the world. There has to be something done in order for @edfringe to survive

Hearing from several comics now that the price of accommodation for this year's edfringe has once again skyrocketed. The festival is in serious danger of disappearing altogether due to landlords greed and something has to be done to stop it.

The Fringe offices are now closed for the winter break, and will re-open on Monday 06 January 2025. Show registration will open a week later, on Monday 13 January – have a great new year and we'll see you then! ❄️🎆

It was with huge sadness that we heard of Janey Godley’s passing this weekend. Shona McCarthy, our Chief Executive, said: 'Janey was a Scottish and Fringe legend; determinedly championing and performing in the Free Fringe. She had an incredible gift and brought laughter to so many for so long.' Our Chair Benny Higgins got to see Janey perform only two months ago; he said, 'My daughter Katie and I saw Janey at the Borders Book Festival earlier this year. Her talent for being funny and insightful about everything including her own health had tears of joy and sadness running down our cheeks. Rest in peace special Janey.' On behalf of the whole Edinburgh Fringe community, we offer our heartfelt condolences to her family.
