No shade, but Cardi earned her spot.
Out of all the girls that came after Nicki, she's one of the few who was actually rapping BEFORE the fame, BEFORE Love & Hip Hop, BEFORE the industry checks. She had people reciting her lyrics word-for-word before she was CARDI B. She was building a fanbase before most of these girls even knew they wanted to rap.
Meanwhile, y'all downplay her while hyping girls who decided to become rappers last Tuesday and built their careers off looks, trends, viral moments, and industry pushes.
And please spare me the "writers" discourse. The way y'all act like Cardi is the ONLY female rapper who's ever gotten help in a studio is pure delusion. The standards always change when it comes to her.
The thing that always gets me is no matter who's trending, who's dissing, who's dropping, or who's being pushed... somehow the conversation always circles back to Cardi.
Almost 10 years later and she's STILL the one y'all compare everybody to.
That's why she's hated. Not because she's "untalented" but because she's a threat.
