As a Bayern Munich journalist, Liverpool used their pulling power to ask about Michael Olise.
Bayern Munich responded with a Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet which confused Richard Hughes and Arne Slot.
The spreadsheet in question listed six players and a number
- Isak (4)
- Wirtz (12)
- Ekitike (22)
- Kerkez (3)
- Frimpong (3)
- Leoni (0)
Then it listed another number - €380,000,000
At the bottom of the spreadsheet was a note from Max Eberl who explained the numbers. It said:
"Liverpool spent €445m this summer and the new signings have a combined goals/assists totaling 44. From my perspective, Liverpool pay €10,000,000 per goal contribution and since Michael Olise has 38 contributions for Bayern Munich this year, I will set his price for the going rate that Liverpool are okay paying."
Richard Hughes was left fuming and my sources tell me Arne Slot still doesn't understand it.

@EPLBible Cannot be offside from the corner itself so unless you think it’s a foul initially or he is interfering after Van Dijk headers the ball, it’s a goal

@AdamFulwell_ Very similar to Diogo Jota versus Spurs years ago, also not given as a penalty. The reason given was attacker slowed down to initiate contact (rather than the obvious taking a shot). Bad decision again here but par for the course with Premier League refs.

@AnythingLFC_ I heard the commentators say that but on replay it seems to hit his body first which is why I think it wasn’t given. I still think arm out like that is a pen 🤷♂️

@louorns I would question how the ball moved forward when hitting his side like that without touching his arm but it isn’t certain it hits his arm so onfield decision does and should stand.

It’s very obviously not the reason Arsenal lost but I will be curious on how the handball stuff will be explained with VAR. I don’t know how this doesn’t qualify under the rules. I think this rule is kind of dumb but it is the rule that even accidental it doesn’t matter.

What confused matters last night was the commentary team said Haaland was interfering with the goalkeeper. Was that a misunderstanding on their part?

@LT_34 The point is that Thiaw cannot make an attempt to play the ball because of the presence of an offside player.
And that takes precedence.

I was just thinking about point 3. The "interference" from Haaland is amusing because he doesn't impact the goalkeeper at all, and when you watch the replay, Thiaw has a huge chunk of Haaland's shirt - so why is this not relevant? How can that play one way and not the other?

Three points on Haaland offside image as they keep being raised. 1) Offside line drawn to Pope as second-last defensive player 2) 5cm tolerance level auto applies if the red and blue lines touch, which they do not 3) Thiaw holding Haaland not relevant for offside judgement

@gunnerking_14 What about people who criticised Haaland at the time and also thought he should have gotten a yellow here, then another after running into Gabriel from kick off? Can we say Martinelli is also wrong?

Does anyone remember when Haaland threw A ball at Gabriel’s head when he wasn’t even looking at him and all of yall INCLUDING LIVERPOOL FANS found it funny?
But yeah, I do actually agree Martinelli shouldn’t have thrown the ball at Bradley and I’m saying that genuinely and not tongue in cheek.
But can we have A little consistency here on this kind of matter in future?

@bazza080808 Yes it looks a little soft but there are 2 crucial details.
1. As you mention not looking at the ball
2. The ball ends up the area it took place which means the holding was impactful
Personally think more of these should be given

@TheVillaHome It is actually a foul by the attacker. Pretty sure onfield ref gave nothing and Var cleared this as not a penalty very quickly.
