Lionel Messi has just scored his 468th La Liga goal. To put that into some sort of context, it’s the same number as Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney, the Premier League’s top two all-time leading scorers, COMBINED. In 418 fewer games.

Those kind of fouls might be the thing VAR has fucked the most about football. It's never a foul, never been a foul, but go down and grab your leg forcing a decision, it'll get given. Just complete nonsense of literally any 'contact' - despite having zero impact on the game.

That England shirt from the front looks peng, but a glimpse of the side and it looks like a fake training top you'd buy Cambodia

Somehow on my FY page means you get the story: I was visiting a mate at uni in Wales, had been there pissed for 3 days, was due to drive home after this game... this tipped me over the edge, got hammered and didn't leave for another 5, even attended a couple of lectures that week

@DanCooper9 I know Hollywood is rife with plenty of awful sexual abuse cases and cover ups, yet I still consider this its biggest crime of the last 10 years.

My account isn't popular enough to get a load of replies, but the criteria is players bought for £30m+ since 2010. Can't be dealing with people thinking this is a discussion about Seamus Coleman or blokes who've joined on a free. Genuinely interested to hear other shouts tho...

Since football went mental circa 2010 and the baseline became £30m for your average player, the £42m we paid for him in 2017 has to be one of the best value buys in that whole period. Club legend.

Bernardo Silva: "Culturally, Portuguese and English are quite different; the weather, the food, the way of living is a bit different. I always joke that if #ManCity was a bit more [in the] south of Europe, I'd stay until people kicked my ass out! Because I truly love the football club, my teammates, the staff, the fans, the stadium, the atmosphere - everything about my professional life! "Then, the other side of my life, it's different because I'm not saying I don't like, but culturally it's not 100% what I'd ideally want. So in some moments you're not feeling as happy as you want. Before I met my wife, I was alone in Manchester for a period where I didn't feel that well with myself. I definitely thought a lot about leaving, not because I didn't like the football club - which I really love - but because of the other side of my life. "At the end, it didn't happen. I'm really happy it didn't! Because I would've probably lost the opportunity to live the memories of the treble, four-in-a-row, opportunity of being a captain, in the leadership group, passing experience to the young guys, trying to put the club back where it deserves. But if Manchester City was in Lisbon, I'd stay until I'm 40..." [via @ManCity]

Gutted for Craig Bellamy, but the fact they couldn't kill the game off against a team wearing a Kelme kit is reason enough to not go to World Cup imvho

I see Man City fans are angry about Rodri’s comments. There are four clubs in the world that I believe can turn a player’s head any time of the year. Turning their head doesn’t mean they’ll leave, but they are those sort of clubs you’ll ask your agent for what’s on the table. “Are they really interested in me?” Those clubs are; Real Madrid Barcelona Bayern Munich Manchester United They’re clubs footballers go to knowing they may not earn up to what they are currently on, but will play for the glory. Rodri is Spanish. He was born in Madrid. There’s a dream and desire to play there. Real Madrid need his profile. He’d be going back home if he makes the move. He’s won everything at Man City including the biggest individual prize in football, and he’s not even 30 yet.

🚨 Rodri: “The fact that I played for Atlético Madrid does NOT stop me from playing for Real Madrid. You CANNOT refuse the best clubs in the world.”
