@JANUSZCZAK Waldy's comments are nothing new. The Scotsman’s art critic Duncan McMillan once compared Vettriano’s paintings to "bonkbuster" fiction and Sandy Moffatt of Glasgow School of Art said Hoggan's work was "badly conceived soft porn". Both sound accurate!

The National Gallery of Scotland has announced it is paying tribute to the Scottish painter Jack Vettriano with a big display of his self portraits. What a collapse of judgement! Here's a ghastly 'smoker's' portrait they're showing. And something I wrote about Jack in 2004.

Sophie Conran, PortMeirion is beautiful and sounds British but made in China. Rick Stein Treyarnon Bay, Cornwall. Sounds Cornish but made in China. Almost everything I have picked up here is made in China. I’ll happily pay more for British made, in what I thought was a British shop, but it seems to be impossible.
