Elon Musk: “The goal of SpaceX is to try to advance rocket technology, and in particular, to try to crack a problem that I think is vital for humanity to become a space-faring civilization, which is to have a rapidly and fully reusable rocket.”
Those words, spoken by Elon Musk in a 2014 fireside chat, still define the entire enterprise more than a decade later. Musk wasn’t chasing headlines or contracts. He was diagnosing the fundamental barrier keeping humanity confined to one fragile planet: expendable rockets are simply too expensive and too slow to reuse.
Compare that vision to the evolutionary stakes he has since framed: becoming multi-planetary ranks among the top ten most important events in the history of life on Earth alongside the emergence of multicellular organisms or the invention of photosynthesis. The reusable rocket is the tool that makes that leap possible.

WSJ: Tesla Finally Has Its First Semi-Truck and It’s Already a Hit With Truckers.
"Truckers who drove it in pilot tests say they loved features including a centered driving position, faster charging and longer range for about $100,000 less than other battery-electric trucks. Angel Rodriguez, a 56-year-old truck driver for Hight Logistics in Long Beach, Calif., recently swapped out a 13-gear diesel truck for a Tesla Semi, which is automatic, for a one-month pilot test. “It’s just easier on your body. It’s less stressful because you’re not really having to engage the clutch and the stick shift.”
Big F Transport employs five mechanics to service more than 40 diesel-powered rigs and a fleet of trailer chassis in Wilmington, Calif. “If we go all EV we will only need one [mechanic] to service chassis,” said Geovanny Melendez, the carrier’s VP of operations, who went to see the Semi earlier this month at a ride-and-drive event near the Port of Long Beach.
Jennie Abarca, co-founder and CEO of King Fio Trucking in Long Beach, Calif., once worked as a truck dispatcher and her husband is a truck driver, so she knows all too well the toll a diesel engine takes on people’s lungs and hearing. She eventually wants to swap out King Fio’s 27 diesel trucks to create an all-electric fleet.
King Fio already has 11 battery-electric trucks from Volvo and Nikola. But the company limits those trucks to shorter trips to and from local ports because they only have a range of about 225 miles.
The Semi, by contrast, can travel 500 miles on a single charge, according to Tesla. For King Fio that means two or three round-trips a day from Long Beach to warehouses in the nearby Inland Empire or a single round-trip to Las Vegas. She has 20 Semis on order.
“The Teslas change everything,” Abarca said. “It opens up a whole different type of delivery that I can make.”

@CODE_XApp In my robot taxi future, there isnt much congestion. I feel like almost all traffic is due to humans failing to merge into lanes properly and if a majority of vehicles were autonomous then traffic congestion and speed becomes a non issue. The other risks seem very real

Only the Model Y Robotaxis in Austin have had rear camera washers. Real talk: I struggle to name even a handful of CEOs today who stay as deeply involved in the day-to-day of their companies as Elon Musk.
Most executives delegate hard and retreat to the boardroom. He’s still in the trenches product design reviews, engineering debates, launch sequences, pivots across Tesla, SpaceX, xAI, Neuralink, The Boring Company…
That kind of relentless founder-mode immersion is exceptionally rare. It’s exhausting. It’s controversial. But it’s also why his companies move at speeds others can’t touch.

Tesla FSD is nothing short of magic. Just rented a Cybertruck, picked it up at the airport and it drove us directly to the Airbnb. None of the stress of a new city, new roads, new car. Had it for 5 days and never drove myself. It drove perfectly. So easy and liberating
