@Cal_Talks @weirdrue @tenyearsnow BDD and AN have similar neurology. If GD was truly comparable to them, then why doesn’t it have the same (similar) neurology? They only have superficial similarities when it comes to symptoms. That’s it. Is that not an extraordinarily weak comparison?

@Cal_Talks @weirdrue @tenyearsnow Gender dysphoria and BDD are completely separate disorders. Trans people are given psychotherapy and antidepressants. They can provide moderate symptomatic relief. But the only thing that truly solves GD is transitioning. The root of the problem is being born in the wrong body.

That’s absolutely absurd These people absolutely need treatment, but that treatment should be therapy to better understand their body dysmorphia, not surgery affirming their mental illness

Rue called the medically necessary treatment for a life-threatening medical condition a “lifestyle”. That’s absurdly insensitive. Imagine if you told a cancer patient that chemotherapy was a “lifestyle”!!!
