Leo was a respected colleague and a friend to all who knew him. Like too many who have succumbed to #COVID19 his loss is a senseless tragedy and leaves many of us angry and frustrated. May his family find some measure of peace in knowing how much he meant to so many.

@DrShepherd2013 @PaulEWalsh Just like the climate change deniers who point to the gloomy predictions of horrible pollution in the early 1970s and how they never came to pass. Of course, they conveniently forget the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act prevented those predictions from coming true.

@adam_tooze @hausfath @martinwolf_ We have the tech, have the policies, we have the capital. We lack deployment because investors can not find enough safe investment grade projects. Derisking and last mile finance to attract the institutional investors and banks with trillions just sitting there!

Over the past 3 decades CO2 emissions per unit of GDP have been falling at a little below 2% pa. If this were to continue, zero growth would result in 40% emissions cut by 2050 = far too little -> we need technological revolution. @martinwolf_

$10b towards derisking - policy, financial instrument, market, technology, you name it - would be money well spent. Heck I’d take $1b of that sum!

Good thread on how @JeffBezos should spend his $10bn climate pledge, how it might be tough. Nah. He should support pre-FID project development at all scales: kilo, mega, giga. We have masses of technologies, advocates, $$$. What is missing is a rip tide of high quality projects.
