I've been touring the state, talking to advocates, providers, & the people we serve about the federal changes we are facing. We have a lot of work to do to reduce harm-and I'm grateful to @GovSherrillNJ for prioritizing our response in the FY27 state budget.

Yesterday, @CmrChaNJ and DC Mielke toured @HMHNewJersey Carrier Clinic behavioral health facility with CEO Robert Garrett. They visited the Cohen Community Resource Ctr, the East Mountain School, & other facilities on the campus dedicated to mental health & addiction services.

New Jersey Human Services Commissioner @CmrChaNJ has announced that his Department has fully reopened the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP), restoring access to all eligible families seeking child care assistance. All new enrollments were frozen last August due to a funding shortage. In her proposed $60.7 billion state budget for Fiscal Year 2027, New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill included an additional $18 million for the program, which is projected to support for up to 77,500 children, or 2,500 more than the current year's budget.

New Jersey Department of Human Services Commissioner @sarahmadelman announced today that beginning in December, the state will reopen applications for the state's Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) for a limited number of slots. Priority will be given to families with children experiencing homelessness, children with special needs, and children from households with very low incomes.

Appreciated hearing from the DDD Self-Advocacy Council about their work to educate med students & advocate for language access - in a week when I had some critical meetings, this may have been my favorite. Hearing from people directly should always be the center of our work.

This morning @CmrChaNJ and Deputy Commissioner Wilson joined leaders and volunteers at @TCNJ for a mass evacuation training. Led by @NJDHS Office of Emergency Mgmt, participants toured how the shelter would be set up and learned skills for assisting in a major emergency.
