Creating clearer pictures for players, in simple yet effective ways which reflects what is happening within the game, and moment. This moment led to a goal with prior information 2-mins earlier being successfully executed.

Just an observation over the last year, seeing a lot of youth players (U13+) that struggle with accurate passes more than 15 yards? Is this because of recent coaching trends? Players not doing enough tech work? Curious what you’re seeing, coaches and players. Drop your thoughts and age group if you can.

Training coming to the surface, finding the furthest option forward, out of pressure after a win of possession. Supporting movement, ahead of the ball, and attacking spaces behind the opponents last line!

Constantly in search of way to make words, become visual, for visuals to become actions. Put some focus on how defending in ‘Zones’ especially when you’re looking into game management or protecting a lead can be fruitful! ⚽️

I have created a presentation providing coaches and players with the finer details of playing as a Centre Forward, based around : 🔹 Combining 🔹 Movement 🔹 Finishing If you'd like access to the full 20 minute video, just drop your email and I’ll send it across.

Imo, the game, whatever you call it, football/soccer/futbol has been obsessed with the creation of BPCB, Inverted FBs, CDMs that we have lost the striker, the forward, the finisher. As a kid, I was obsessed with recreating goals from MOTD, and during the game, where is that now?

@CoachEdwards0 @albinsheqiri I think you can find Karl’s work on his time line and Jes has a good interview with Modern Soccer Coach if you want to deep dive. ChatGPT can also summarise for you their work!

Crystal Palace - Oliver Glasner warm-up exercise - Scanning focus MD-1 training with focus on scanning and perceiving information forward before receiving the ball, here done with colour red or white. A simple exercise before adding more complexity with for-example a drill with: pressure from opponent.

@Paulmcg8 Even more important I feel at youth level creating more 9s, and particularly goal-scorers (from my experience in the US so far).

@CoachEdwards0 @albinsheqiri There is some work done from Karl Marius Aksum and Jes Buster Madsen I believe. Jes' studies and practice at FC Copenhagen is interesting

@albinsheqiri Curious on your thoughts here. Has this not been de-bunked (so to speak) by the lastest research on scanning?

A continued approach to individual player actions, and how that shapes our team principles we believe to be true, keep coming to fruition and the more this is encouraged the more it looks like the game.

@rangersfan8448 Ever looked to lob side your shape, push 2/3 wide, and 7/11 inside. Build principles of play based on who tries to occupy the space. This creates a back 3. Let me know if that’s what you’re thinking.

@CoachEdwards0 Usually a 3 or a 4. Very few play a 5. It just seems we can’t get a hold of the ball in midfield. Too big a gap between the 2 and the 3

Midfield 4-2-3-1 – SSG 2 #SundayShare @SundayShare10 @TacticalPad notes + video: bit.ly/4dkZKFe 🎯 Goal: Develop structured midfield decision-making in a 4-2-3-1 shape with emphasis on half-space occupation, positional rondos, and intelligent timing of runs. Trains players to read visual cues, support from behind, and link zones under pressure. ❓ Why? This activity anchors midfielders in their functional game roles. The inclusion of half-space zones demands players think beyond static positioning—forcing movement in/out of pressure lines and sharpening the decision of when to enter the hot zones. Limiting touches raises the tempo, while offside and restart constraints mirror match conditions. It creates layered learning: •🔄 Repetition with variability (via positional rules and progressions) •🧠 Scanning + communication in compact spaces •🎯 Tactical triggers for overlapping fullbacks and linking central midfielders @JustCoachMD @Coach_Osku @TheS_Resource @Coach_B_Godwin @AcademySCoach @Coach_Temisan @TacticalPad @Tactica1Thinker

@Leecosgrove10 Had the same conversation with a parent on one of my teams yesterday too. My opinion is that formations are references to what we can/do out of possession.

Great piece 👏🏻Was speaking to an opposition coach yesterday , who asked me what my formation was gonna be , I said the formation is irrelevant , it’s always about the principles of play , roles and responsibilities too , without those , no formation works

¡COACHES WATCH THIS VIDEO! Jose Mourinho talking about the importance of Game Principles (constants/non negotiables) throughout a team v tactics which vary game to game based on opposition. Game Models really are required to devop anything meaningful longterm, over time.

@205_Academy @TacticalPad @SundayShare10 I play this shape with my team but I find a lot of the time we lose the ball because of an empty space between the 2 and the 3 in midfield. Especially from goal kicks. Any ideas?

I used to think cameras for games were a gimmick until I looked at it from another lens, and how it can create a picture from training, principles and player actions. Our @ncfc_youth U13s, showed their understanding of these, by no means polished but a step in the right direction
