2026 has clear targets for TSR, shaped by what worked in 2025 and what didn’t. ➟ The learning stays. ➟ The standards rise. This year is about pushing myself further out of my comfort zone, building confidence, and showing up more consistently by putting my face to the thinking, not hiding behind graphics or text. More variety, presence and more accountability. And yes, an almighty target sitting there too: 🎙️ Starting the TSR podcast. Same values. More visibility. Higher intent.

Unlock the Square - Can they open the middle? Created via @SSPlanner Organisation • One large square approx. 25x25 yards • One smaller central square inside • 3 defenders inside the main area • 5+ attacking players around the outside Rules: • Defenders cannot enter the central square • Only 1 attacker allowed inside central square at a time • Maximum 5 seconds inside central square Objective Attacking Team: ⇢ Maintain possession, manipulate defenders, and find the right moment to penetrate the central area. Defending Team: ⇢ Stay compact, communicate, and prevent central access. Practice: • Attacking team keeps possession around the outside area. • Team must complete 5 consecutive passes. After 5 passes: • Team becomes eligible to score To score: • Pass must be played into a teammate inside the central square • Defender win/interception resets the count. Participation Adaptation To maximise involvement: ◍ Duplicate grids for larger groups ◍ Rotate defenders regularly ◍ Keep spare balls around the outside Gamified Scoring: ⁃ Successful central pass = 1 point ⁃ Bonus for scoring immediately after 5th pass ⁃ Defenders score for interceptions or forcing reset Progression 1: Movement After Passing After every pass: ⇢ Attacker must move and touch a different outside cone Progression 2: Player-Created Solutions ⇢ Allow the attacking team to create their own methods of scoring into the central square. Players can decide: • Movement patterns • Rotations • Third-player combinations • Overlaps • Double movements • Bounce passes • Positional swaps Challenge players to: • Manipulate defenders out of position • Create new passing lanes • Communicate solutions as a team Progression 3: Timed Entry Attacker entering central square must: • Receive and play within 2–3 seconds Teaching the “Why” Read the Picture ⇢ “When are defenders stretched?” ⇢ “What movement opens the middle?” Purpose in the Action ⇢ “Are we keeping possession or moving defenders?” Change the Rhythm ⇢ “When do we circulate patiently?” ⇢ “When do we play quickly through the gap?”

2v2v2 triangle field, 3 goals ➡️ Arrange field in a triangle with goals at each corner - shown here as 3 teams with 2v2v2 could play up to 3-per-side In possession - attacking team is 2v4 change of possession, team goes to its own goal - coach plays restart ball ✔️ Shift - Have team defend its goal and attack other 2 goals 🧠 Attacking team - with numbers down, attempt to isolate opponents, look for through ball (beat lines) - defending teams - cooperate to defend, use pressure cover techniques - on transition - attempt to immediately attack your goal while beating opponents' line @TheS_Resource

That's my season with the U19s finished💛💙 I feel like I've become a better coach when working with U19 players, especially form a psych-social perspective. I've also learnt a lot of lessons on leading a college programme, which I'm looking forward to implementing next season.

Putting this out today & hoping that it doesn't get misconstrued as commentary on the state of political discourse. Instead, i'm referring to how coaches speak of other coaches when not agreeing w/ their style of play. There are many ways to play & win-none being right or wrong⚽️

3v3 | 4v3 | Multi Ball Finishing ⚽️ Created On: @SSPlanner 📌 Finishing attacks in the final third 🧩 Set-Up: ✔️Half Pitch set up with funnelled lines. A large goal at each end of the pitch is guarded by a goalkeeper 🟢 (1&2) 👕Teams: ⚫️s attacking team and 🔴s defending team. 🔵’s are support players for whichever team attacks. How to Play: ✔️ Stagger the players across the halfway line so that on one side of the pitch there is an overload for the attackers, and on the other side of the pitch there is an overload for the defenders. ✔️ This is a three-ball game: ⚽️ Ball 1 is served in by the coach to the ⚫️s into their overload. So 3 x ⚫️s enter the pitch defended by 3 x 🔴s. The ⚫️s try to score in the large goal past 🟢 GK (2). As soon as the game ends, ball 2 begins. ⚽️ Ball 2 is from a wide area where 🔵 support player 2 enters the pitch to create a 4v3 overload in favour of the ⚫️s. They try to score in the large goal past 🟢 GK (2). ✔️ If the 🔴s win the ball, they attack the opposite goal, and 🔵 support player 2 can help. After the ball goes dead, 🔵 Support player 2 leaves the pitch. ⚽️ Ball 3 is for the 🔴s to attack the large goal via a cross from 🔵 support player 1 towards the goal guarded by 🟢GK (1). The game is played to a finish, with the ⚫️s attacking in the other direction if they win the ball. 🚧 Constraints: 🏆Reward: A bonus ball served in by the coach (C) if the blacks score 2 goals in a row. 👨‍🏫 Review: The speed of the attacks and the off-ball movements to create scoring chances. 🚫 Restriction: A time limit to score or possession flips to the defending team. @Coach_Osku @LloydOwers @205_Academy @JB_SoccerCoach @BreakthruSoccer @SessionShareNet @TheS_Resource @CoachingFamily @PeterPrickett @TogetherWeCoach

Warmup: Square Rotation Passing (13 of 31) - Can they create the next pass? Created via @SSPlanner Organisation • 4 cones set in a square (~8x8 yards) • 1 player positioned on each cone • 1 ball in play Set up: • Players work in pairs on opposite sides of the square • Each pair rotates together during the sequence To maximise involvement: ⇢ Duplicate squares for larger groups ⇢ Keep groups at 4 per station Objective ◍ Develop passing timing, movement coordination, and receiving quality within a rotating pattern. Practice: • Begin with 2-touch play to establish rhythm. • Orange player passes to teammate and follows pass. • Next Orange player passes diagonally. • Orange pair rotate positions. • Red pair mirror the same movement pattern. • Sequence repeats continuously. Progression 1: Competitive Rotation Teams compete: ⇢ Most successful full rotations in 3 minutes Progression 2: Overlap Pattern Example: ⇢ Player A passes and overlaps outside ⇢ Player 2 sets the ball ⇢ Third player plays through pass into overlap run Progression 3: Player-Created Rotations ⇢ Players create their own passing and movement patterns within the square. Encourage: • Different rotations • Overlaps • Third-player movements • Double movements • Position swaps Challenge players to: • Maintain rhythm • Keep the ball moving • Avoid occupying the same space Gamified Scoring ◍ 1 point per successful full rotation ◍ Bonus for completing sequence one-touch ◍ Deduct for loss of control or incorrect movement timing Teaching the “Why” Read the Picture ⇢ “Where is the next space before you move?” Purpose in the Action ⇢ “Does your movement help the next pass?” Change the Rhythm ⇢ “When do you slow the pattern down?” ⇢ “When do you increase the tempo?”

3v3 +2 | Movements off the Line | Finish the Move ⚽️ Created On: @SSPlanner ✅ Spotting opportunities to move in off the line and be slid in on goal. Set-Up: ✔️ Set up the playing area as shown (35 by 18 yards). A central zone with a 3v3 inside (orange shaded zone). Then place a channel on either side of this zone (grey) with a support player inside. 👕 Teams: ⚫️s vs 🔴s plus 🟡s support and 🟢 (GKs) ☑️ How to Play: ➡️ Practice starts with GK serving into a support player who has dropped in to receive and play into the central area. ➡️ Once the ball is in the central zone, the support player returns to the grey zone. ➡️ The team in possession combine using the 🟡s support to release a runner into the final third.
🚧 Constraints: 🏆Reward: Third-man runs that lead to a goal are worth double. 👨‍🏫 Review: Timing of runs, when to clear space and when to fill it. 🚫 Restriction: Can only score off a pass into the final third (players cannot dribble into that zone). @Coach_Osku @JB_SoccerCoach @SessionShareNet @TheS_Resource

Coaching isn’t just about the sport. It’s complex. The real skill is mastering how you handle people and situations, that’s what actually moves the needle. Because success looks completely different for every individual. One person’s “made it” is another person’s starting line. Both are right. That’s why the best coaching is deeply individualistic. It’s never one-size-fits-all. What’s the biggest lesson coaching has taught YOU about people? Drop it below 👇🏼
