Tomb Raider developers say they are not trying to please either side of the culture war debate over Lara Croft’s appearance. Game director Raul Siqueira and experience director Jeff Adams said their goal is simply to make Lara feel true to the character fans know. “We’re not trying to make one camp happy and the other camp miserable,” Adams said. “This is Lara. This is who she is and this is the icon that we’ve come to know.” The team also said they did not see looks and ability as something that had to be balanced against each other. They just want to create the best version of Lara Croft, not responding to online arguments.

@CoreDesign_com Brutal death scenes have always been one of Tomb Raider's trademarks. They're probably keeping them hidden for now, maybe even to save time during the demo.

@AimlessThund3r The rating is PEGI 7 now? Deaths were visible in all previous Tomb Raider including those with a PEGI 16 / T rating so it doesn't make any sense. Here it just looks awkward, I mean I doubt it'll stay like that.
