I was asked to share resources for people on the #developer #jobhunt and after I put together the list of my own writing and appearances I was a bit taken back by the amount of content that I've produced on the topic, so I thought that I'd share it here.

@CyberRacheal As opposed to Microslop just making everyone's life hell through the bugs in their system that don't have solutions.

Linux is "free" if your time has no exchange rate.  In terms of cash, yes, it’s 100% free. No $100 Windows license, no forced subscriptions, and no "Pro" versions. You can download the most powerful operating systems in the world for the price of a coffee (well, the electricity to download it).  On Windows or Mac, you’re a passenger. On Linux, you’re the mechanic. If your Wi-Fi driver decides to go on strike after an update, you’re the one who has to open the "hood" (the terminal) and fix it. You might spend three hours trying to get a specific game or a piece of Adobe software to run because it wasn't built for Linux. That’s three hours of your life you aren't getting back. The reason people love it despite the stress is Ownership. Windows is like a rental apartment where you can't paint the walls, and the landlord (Microsoft) checks in on you constantly to see what you're doing. Linux is a plot of land where have to build the walls yourself, and the plumbing might leak at first, but nobody is watching you, and you own every single nail.

Is Linux really free, or are we actually paying for it with time, troubleshooting, and stress?

If you want to change to another branch in your git repository. Do you use the 'git switch' or the 'git checkout' command?

@catalinmpit Advice/information things that I would have used web search for before. Instead of clicking through a half dozen links to find the prevailing sentiment, AI gets me through to the expected information quicker.

All Charlie Kirk ever did was have an open, respectful dialogue with people he disagreed with. RIP, Charlie. This is a dark day for America.

Charlie Kirk was more committed to peaceful, open dialogue with those who disagreed with him than anyone I know. God blessed him with immense gifts, and he used them boldly and without fear. He knew the risks he was taking, but he did it anyway because he loved his kids & felt a responsibility to the nation they would inhabit. I traveled the entire country with him last year, we spent 1x1 time together in Ohio two weeks ago, spoke to him again 2 days ago. He’s long warned of the rise of political violence & the growing culture of assassination, when few were willing to listen, with a clarity of vision unlike anyone I’ve known. Completely and utterly devastated.

@GigaBasedDad Let's completely ignore the fact that Millenials were raised by television. The screens have become more addictive, but I don't think that the time spent with them is much different.

@GigaBasedDad Rates of diagnosis are inversely related to the amount of stigma associated with acknowledging mental disorder, and directly related to how much we know about that disorder. We diagnose more because we understand it better, and because we don't force people into asylums.

@GigaBasedDad I don't know about multi-generational homes, but we should bring back supportive family that's willing to help you build a life before you leave home.

@GigaBasedDad They're good for different things. I like Fahrenheit for weather or outside temps. Celsius works better in lab scenarios. For the most part Celsius makes conversions much easier, but if you're dealing with computers then why do you need that?

Former Obama AG Eric Holder says Democrats in the House might refuse to certify the 2028 presidential election because of the redrawn maps in Texas, without mentioning the grotesque gerrymandering in Illinois or New York. If there's an honest historical accounting of our time, Holder will go down as one of its most sinister characters.

@nellohead If you need to get back to where you were before shutdown your browser can restore last session, outlook can reopen all windows and many text editors can keep temporary notes available without even saving formally. Just power it off regularly.
