Tip for prospective Corpora authors: read some of the articles in the journal before you submit to get a sense of the journal's themes and style.

Tip for prospective Corpora authors: we don't require you to make 100% of the changes that reviewers ask for. We do expect most of the changes to be carried out but if you can provide convincing reasons why you don't want to make a change, we'll listen.

If you get a request to review something and aren't able to then it would be lovely if you replied to decline. You don't need to give a reason but if you wanted to recommend an alternative reviewer then that would be even lovelier.

Tip for prospective Corpora authors (and new authors especially): Don't let the existence of a review that asks for changes put you off resubmitting - the vast majority of papers require some sort of revision before they get published.

Tip for prospective Corpora authors: no-one likes a bad review (and we all get them). Don't take it personally, give yourself time before responding and approach them as dispassionately as you can. If it's a reject, the feedback can sometimes be useful in submitting elsewhere.

Tip for prospective Corpora authors: We publish in black and white so change coloured bar charts to gray-scale before you submit.

Tip for prospective Corpora authors: use figures sparingly. Do you need a simple bar chart that contains just 2 or 3 bars?

When I saw @uroemer’s tweet about “Advances in corpus-based research on academic writing”. I went running to the corpora editor for book reviews.

Tip for prospective Corpora authors: a table of words, keywords or collocates is the beginning of an analysis, it is not the analysis in itself.

Coming up in 2021 we have reviews of books authored by Ute Romer, Viviana Cortes, Eric Friginal, Yuan Tao, Tony McEnery, Andrew Hardie, Nagwa Younis, Jesse Egbert and Paul Baker.

Tip for prospective Corpora authors: Just because your paper involves analysis of text won't necessarily make it relevant for Corpora Journal. We prioritise papers that use and develop corpus methods and tools.
