@Evtowns FA could be Rui, John Collins, Josh Okogie, etc. all guys that can space the floor. I think they should be targeting an athletic wing with shooting upside, than can guard 1-4 and sometimes 5. Graves, johnson, Quaintance, lendenborg. Can maybe get one of them and Zuby later.

I can give grace to 3-5 for Zuby. A tweener big should never have to matchup against guards. I don’t think anyone outside of the real lockdown defenders (5% of the league) can truly lock down top 10 guards similar to Castle, cause that’s their bar now. Wemby has never had an elite weak side rim protector next to him. The best has been Sochan? Vassell and Castle too but that’s not their role. Truthfully if they miss out on the best tweeners available in the lottery on top of Zuby in their range, who is the tweener big they can snag? Porzingus? Horford? Bid for Bagley amongst ten other teams? They still need a true forward to do what you’re asking and that could be Carter or another combo forward they like in the draft/free agency. I simply want to add more versatility. And at the end of the day we all want Wemby at the dunker spot. Sadly he hates the low block. He gets beat up like crazy especially late in the season. The dude wants to take 10 plus threes a night. I think we gotta realize what he is at this point until he adds more muscle slowly overtime. And to answer your question a high low game with Zuby at the top of the key with a real big who can actually set good drag/Gortat screens plus the slash bros dribble handoff game should lead to easy looks coming off of curls. Hopefully Castle and Harper are already at mid range and floater camp. Nobody has a low iq in those rotations outside of rookie mistakes that’ll be patched up. Opponents will have to stay true to a drive using the gravity of Wemby for a cutting lob or staying true to his midrange. A quality look will develop after every paint touch and kick outs damn near every time. If I’m lying, I’m crying!

Was just told Zuby Ejiofor had a great workout yesterday in San Antonio. The Spurs desperately need a dominant paint presence that’ll match a teams physicality and clean the glass on offense and defense. Are you buying Ejiofor’s fit alongside Wemby?

@Evtowns If Zuby is on the floor, can he guard 1-4? In an ideal world wemby should be guarding the other teams worst shooter or center and protecting the rim. wemby himself should be in the dunker more at 7’4. Where would Zuby go if wemby is in that spot? Where does he go if wemby roles?

I appreciate your take. I think people fall in love with the builds that work together in the back of their mind but never think about creating mismatches. Truth be told we’ve never seen him next to a build like Zuby. As a connector in the dunker spot or mid post, he can make advanced reeds cross court and find cutters, in a Spurs offense with that kinda gravity next to shooters and slashers will only lead to wide open shots. That’s why I think you can play him next to Wemby or have him control the tempo when he’s out. Shit maybe even Luke too. You can still grab an athletic PF someway somehow and at #20 I don’t see many that are available without having to trade up. That’s why I like Zuby so much. I think he’s bound to fall into their lap. Throw in CB at the wing and I don’t think anyone is willingly coming into the paint and what do you know? You have every kind of build needed to compete🤝
