@matwaveDOTeth @GoodTexture Pretty easy to look at the price action for ETH after the switch to PoS and see that it's not really the win you imagine it to be
English

@GoodTexture Agreed proof of stake would be nice, not only would it be good to stop the selling but knowing how die hard the zcash community is many more people percentage wise would opt in to maintain the network.
English

forced selling of zec to pay electricity bills just hit an all time high for zec. this thing needs proof of stake and it needs it now
Zebastian ◘@bitlarrain
Zcash hashrate just hit an all-time high… probably nothing. Possibly something? $ZEC

Zcash is private Bitcoin
Litecoin is faster Bitcoin
Kaspa is scalable Bitcoin
Decred is governance Bitcoin
Bitcoin Cash is big block Bitcoin
Ethereum is smart contract Bitcoin
Quantus is quantum resistant Bitcoin
Monero is reactionary fungible Bitcoin
“Bitcoin” is not just a ticker.
“Bitcoin” is not just one network.
Bitcoin is the name of a movement, the symbol of a revolution, and the ecash that actually changed the world.

@jgarzik I stopped being interested when Arweave offered a better solution

Let's ask the right #decentralized questions:
1. What is the user economic view, not the investor view? Is the user getting good service and good value?
2. And, in aggregate, is the Filecoin network healthy, are storage providers profitable?
Ted@TedPillows
Filecoin generated $4 in revenue yesterday, while its FDV is $1,716,000,000. $FIL is down 99.8% from its peak, which means $10,000 invested 5 years ago is worth only $20 today.

@BostonZcash @Agzt_111 Hard to take it seriously when you have someone voting with one million coins. Its like Satoshi came through and swung the vote.
I do however happen to agree with the result.
English

@Agzt_111 Coinholder voting needs to both be way, way easier and to have lockup requirements to hold legitimacy as a polling method. (You only needed to own ZEC for a few hours to be able to vote with it.)
English

This a great writeup. But I have a hard time seeing how 2 versions of a non-binding, sentiment gathering poll result in major concordance in some areas and discordance in others constitutes a crisis.
I do think we need to make coinholder voting a lot easier and be clearer about how final consensus is arrived at.
"Crisis" at this point seems a tad...histrionic

I've been noticing a conflict brewing between the old guard "progressives" and the new guard "ossificationists" in Zcash. I wrote some thoughts on governance, as a 10-year veteran of crypto DAOs. Hope it makes some sense.

@nextiscrypto @peacemongerZ There would be no incentive to buy $ZEC if you can just shield $BTC.
English

@peacemongerZ Okay i get it that you’re saying that its not a win? But how will it be a loss to hv zsa’s on Zcash? Wts it we got to loose?

@BeerdHead @BostonZcash Make a convincing argument for why ZSAs improve Zcash. I’ll wait.
English

If Zcash let's these new Solana VCs do a rugpull on both the ZSA and the NSM upgrades, then I GUARANTEE you it drops back under $100 a coin
myself included; us bear market survivors looked forward to both of those projects, and we LITERALLY paid for them to happen
@BostonZcash
English

@bitlarrain If we imagined very low friction ideal coin polling (low fees, fast submission, 0 theft risk, very low privacy risk), I’m curious (a) what the participation rates would be and (b) the overall ZEC distribution.
(I still predict power-law distribution, though.)

@VitalikButerin "Privacy for the weak, transparency for the powerful" is the old cypherpunk slogan. This means that governments (be they nation-states or DAOs) should be transparent to their citizens, while people should have privacy towards their governments - the reverse of what we have now.

@tierotiero This is....dumb. If the agent can buy BTC, it can buy anything else. You just added an extra step and potential exchange slippage for no real reason.
English

@cryptocopernici @zooko @nate_zec @jswihart Why do you want ZSAs?
Stablecoin issuers would not issue on the zcash network without being able to freeze or steal funds for compliance reasons.
That means the assets would likely be things like wrapped BTC, which undermines ZEC value prop.
What is the actual use case?
