During the #ParkFire 1,680 animals supported 285 animal service requests 150 cats and dogs sheltered also 39 horses 13 goats 1 donkey 8 pigs 125 animal hero volunteers working to take care of our best friends.

After the smoke clears, I hope we can learn more about the impact of the prescribed fire regime on the reserve, and whether or not that restoration of lower intensity burning may have helped anything — or if it just all got nuked regardless.

The drip of sad news from the #ParkFire continues. A message from Chico State President Steve Perez said the fire decimated most of the 7,835-acre Big Chico Creek Ecological Reserve, including the old barn and old house just above Big Chico Creek.

Park Fire EVACUATION UPDATE 7.28.24 3:00 p.m. The Butte County Sheriff Office is reducing a portion of the order in zone 312 A to an EVACUATION WARNING. This will include Cohasset Rd, Rock Creek Rd, and Sycamore Valley.
