URGENT ADVISORY
FIRE SAFETY COMPLIANCE FOR THE UPCOMING FESTIVE SEASON
To: All Occupiers/Owners of Eating Houses, Hotels & Clubs
As we approach the festive season, footfall in hospitality venues is expected to rise significantly.
Hence all of you are requested to ensure strict adherence to the following fire safety norms.
⚠️ Mandatory Compliance Checklist
1. Evacuation Plan: Ensure that evacuation and exit plans are displayed properly at conspicuous locations.
2. Exits & Escape Routes
-Keep Exits Unlocked: All emergency exits must remain unlocked and free from obstruction during operational hours.
-Clear Passageways: Staircases, corridors, and lobbies must not be used for storage or blocked by festive decorations.
-Signage: Ensure "Emergency Exit" signage is illuminated and clearly visible, even in low light.
3. Valid Fire Safety Certificate (FSC)
You must possess a valid and renewable FSC. Operating without a valid certificate is a violation of the law and poses a severe risk to public safety. Check your expiry dates immediately.
4. Fire Fighting Equipment
-Ensure all fire extinguishers, hose reels, and sprinkler systems are functional and serviced.
-Smoke detectors and fire alarms must be in working condition.
5. Electrical Safety
-Avoid overloading electrical circuits with heavy festive lighting/equipment.
-Ensure temporary wiring for decorations is insulated and laid out safely to prevent short circuits.
6. Staff Training
-Your staff is the first line of defense. Ensure they are trained in basic firefighting and emergency evacuation procedures.
-Conduct a mock drill prior to the peak season.
7. Crowd Management
-Strict Adherence to Occupancy Limits: Do not admit guests beyond the sanctioned capacity of your venue. Overcrowding blocks escape routes and leads to stampedes during emergencies.
Let us work together to ensure a joyous and accident-free upcoming festive season.
