Brachydios as a Carapeceon Large crabs with an obsidian like carapce. They have a symbiotic relationship with a species of slime mold that explodes in order to spread its spores. The crab uses the slime to destroy minerals thay it eats with its powerful crushing mouth

Then Pearl Harbor made it personal. Americans overwhelmingly went from "not our war not our problem" to "give em hell".
