The Hydrologists Registration Board (HRB) is mandated to regulate, coordinate, and oversee the practice of hydrology in Kenya. Today, I received a courtesy visit from Ms. Georgia Mwendwa, the Acting Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of the HRB, at Maji House, Nairobi. During the visit, the Acting CEO briefed me on the Board's core mandate and the forthcoming regulations. I encouraged her to prioritize the finalization of these regulations to ensure the full operationalization of the Board's mandate, thereby promoting robust standards and effective regulation in hydrological practice.

The development, regulation, coordination and overseeing the practice of Hydrology in Kenya is a key component in achieving water and food security in the country as outlined in the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Model and vision 2030. The Hydrologist Registration Board (HRB) Chairperson Dr. Faith Kinya Mitheu this morning paid a courtesy call to my office at Maji house, Nairobi. During the courtesy call, she briefed me on the mandate of HRB and the challenges the sector is facing in its operations. We explored on ways to overcome the challenges, mechanisms to improve the board and the continued partnership to ensure a quality and robust hydrological practice in Kenya.
