The Voi EV Charging Station stood out as a major milestone during the Nairobi–Mombasa–Nairobi EV Parade, showcasing Kenya’s growing readiness for electric mobility. The station features two chargers; a DC charger and an AC charger; with each capable of charging two vehicles at a time, allowing up to four EVs to charge simultaneously. This demonstrated that long-distance EV travel across the country is no longer a concept, but a growing reality. Through collaboration with key stakeholders in the e-mobility sector, Kenya Power continues to champion the expansion of EV charging infrastructure, helping build confidence in sustainable transport and proving that electric vehicles can seamlessly travel across Kenya. #PoweringEMobilityKE #TheFutureIsElectric #PamojaTwangaa ^KN

DAY 2 UPDATE: NAIROBI - KISUMU - ELDORET- NAKURU ROUTE EV PARADE The Kenya Power Western EV Parade via Nakuru, Kisumu and Eldoret continues to demonstrate the growing potential of electric mobility for long-distance travel across Kenya. The team arrived in Kisumu at exactly 10:00 p.m., with the fully occupied JAC double cab retaining ~30% battery charge and the station wagon recording an even higher remaining charge - strong endurance figures for both. The electric motorcycle required just one battery swap at Londiani to complete the trip, highlighting the practicality of battery-swapping technology. Vehicles were put on slow overnight charging to preserve long-term battery health, as it is gentler on battery systems and reduces heat generation. On Day 2, the team conducted a short EV parade around Kisumu Town alongside Spiro electric motorcycle riders before departing for Eldoret, arriving around 2:00 p.m. with ~25% charge remaining from a 92% starting charge. Occasional stops for battery swaps caused minor delays, but overall performance remained reliable throughout. Despite varying terrain and weather conditions, the EVs have continued to perform reliably, reinforcing confidence in Kenya's growing e-mobility ecosystem. The team is now en route to Nakuru for an overnight stop before continuing the journey to Nairobi. More updates on battery performance, charging and real-world EV practicality to follow on the final day of the parade tomorrow. #PoweringEMobilityKE #TheFutureIsElectric #PamojaTwangaa ^ZM

WHAT AN EXPERIENCE. DAY ONE; NAIROBI–MOMBASA–NAIROBI EV PARADE Early Thursday morning. The engines at Stima Plaza Nairobi, hum, powered not with fuel, but with a quiet electric promise. The convoy is ready to hit the A109 corridor in four days, a round trip that is promising to be monumental. At around 10:46 am, the Nairobi–Mombasa EV Parade is flagged off; the convoy navigates the busy Nairobi CBD's roads, escorted by over a dozen electric bikes. Minutes later, few SUVs, one Basigo matatu, a Kenya Power double cab, and one mighty freight truck (the first ever to do this journey in Kenya, courtesy of the Kuenhe Climate Centre & Kühne Foundation) emerge out of the city bustle and hits the highway proper. The road is clear and everyone is excited. As the vehicles rolled south, each stop becomes a chapter to tell. Midday, the convoy makes a brief stop at Machakos junction for a public engagement. At around 2 pm, the teams makes another stop at Emali. It’s scorching hot. A few SUVs and the double cab needed a top‑up, just like anyone would need some lunch. Forty minutes later, the team departs for a meet‑and‑see experience at Kiboko. Here, residents and long‑distance drivers, who had stopped to grab something are amazed by the freight truck. First, it’s fully electric. No noise. No polution. Secondly, it’s being driven by two lady drivers, a rare but now real encounter. Many cannot belive. The long journey becomes more exciting. As the cars accelerates downwards, so does their battery percentages. Inside the double cab and one SUV, a question seeks an answer: Will these machines reach Voi without topping up? It’s called range anxiety, and we experienced it, firsthand. Luckily, Kenya Power has set another EV charger at Mtito Andei. The team tops up; the truck doesn't need to...Its way too powerful. The team drives towards Voi. A few minutes to 10 pm, the electric freight truck arrives in Voi, now at 51% battery left. A quiet revolution in motion. As the team rests in Voi, one reflection lingers: A109 has become a classroom. The data gathered along the way will offer policymakers and investors something priceless: proof. As the convoy heads to Mombasa today Friday for loading of the truck, more questions still linger. How will that experience look? Will this be a story of resilience, insights, and innovation? Is it possible to electrify Kenya’s busiest transport artery? Stay tuned… #PoweringEMobilityKE #TheFutureIsElectric #PamojaTwangaa ^KN
