Retirement. “The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide you’re not going to stay where you are.” - John Pierpont “J.P.” Morgan After a long back-and-forth fight with myself about whether I should continue playing Overwatch, I’ve decided to stop my competitive journey and start a new chapter. I’ve been struggling a lot with this decision since Overwatch has always been my go-to game, and even as I write this, I still wonder if it’s the right move going forward. So, you’re probably wondering—why now? First, I’ve been struggling to find a consistent team since I left T2 Esport in December. There are multiple reasons for that, which I won’t dive into here, but the free agency period throughout the latest FaceIt League Season has been tough. When CAH was announced, I thought maybe I could give it one last run and find a team there. But then, my second reason for retiring presented itself: Marvel Rivals / Magenta E-Trophy Tournament. I was picked to play in the Magenta E-Trophy Tournament just as I started receiving my first CAH trial offers. Since the Magenta E-Trophy had a realistic chance of me winning a big prize pool, I decided to focus entirely on Marvel Rivals and skip the CAH trials. (By the way, some of those offers were really great opportunities, and I’m super grateful to those who considered me <3.) I spent two weeks grinding Marvel Rivals instead of playing Overwatch, and since I hadn’t scrimmed properly in over two months, I didn’t get picked up by a CAH team—which I completely understand. That meant staying a free agent even longer, which also factored into my decision. Yesterday (22.03.2025), the Magenta E-Trophy Rivals Tournament took place—and we won! It was the first Marvel Rivals tournament I’ve ever competed in, and the prize pool alone almost doubled my entire Overwatch earnings. Beyond the prize, the tournament and the games were an absolute blast. Winning and feeling that excitement again was the final push I needed to follow through with retiring from Overwatch and fully committing to grinding Marvel Rivals. Overwatch has given me so much - amazing memories, friendships, and countless opportunities - and I’ll always look back on this chapter with pride. But now, I’m ready to dive into something new, and I hope you’ll continue to support me on this journey. Here’s to new beginnings! I will prolly still stick in the community (Stockholm is already planned) and will prolly not completly dissapear but rivals will be nr1 priority. See you in Rivals :3 ~G4sich
