SYSTER HEALTH UPDATE: At this point they've got her on an antibiotic IV and are just trying to kill the infection. Unfortunately in hospitals a lot of doctors and important people are not there on the weekends so you don't want to be real sick in the hospital on the weekend basically. But she's not in a lot of pain. They're going to go and sort of open things up on Monday and see exactly what's going on. What we're hoping for is that this is just a surface infection and not something that goes any deeper. She's feeling okay. She's not in a lot of pain. She's just nervous, worried about this whole process. Thanks again for all your prayers. I told her that everybody's praying for her and I'm sure that really makes her feel better. I will let you know when I know more.

@ZillennialApple Thats when they need to be hands on the most . They need to be encouraged to be involved even coming in a couple times a month to help out in some way. Some won't but in my past experience surprisingly many did. It helps their school connection with their child

Teachers: Do you call every parent the first week of school? I've never done this and am skeptical about how successful it is. I feel like it would just annoy parents. I teach middle school. Parents tend to be hands-off by that age.

Nobody talks about what it costs a school when a good teacher walks out the door for good. The kids lose the relationship. The department loses the institutional knowledge. The next hire starts from zero. And everyone pretends that's just how it goes.
