Defensive coaches - would love to hear how you would gameplan for this action? What are the coaching points? Are you checking to a MFC structure to add a hat here? This seems like a nightmare of a play to fit correctly.

I know everyone has there preference but @FieldFlowus is a pretty good source of drawing plays and putting together your playbooks as well. Something to put out there if you are looking into other systems of playbook creation.

@ChalkLast0712 Similar concept here with spacing, install it as a pure progression, but in reality with time teaching the kids to get to the backside if it’s not man. This is from 2023 Washington for context.

If you’re worried about timing aspect when reading it pure progression , you can turn the curl into a post curl, 7x4 on the steps. And in my opinion here, the Pure Progression in Y-Cross etc, is just a starter point and it evolves with reps / knowledge to getting eyes to that backside curl faster against certain coverages - which I imagine your referencing 1 high here.

If you run Y Cross with a curl how do you read it without going pure progression? Last yr we ran double digs, which looks very similar, and read the flat defender to that side. I like Y Cross but I’ve only ever heard of it as a pure progression play & I prefer reading defenders
