had too many students not able to install latex on their computers, and the only way they write tex documents is on Overleaf. This feels wrong. Tex is supposed to be open software, but still being used via an enshittified entity, online dependent. It shouldn't be like this

@LimYenKheng to be fair latex is such ridicolously bloated and software. the whole biber thing is such a mess. it's 2026 just use typst, the fact that pdf compile times are measured in anything but microseconds in this day and age is asinine

I reimplemented "claude" CLI with codex and gpt-5.4-high. It cost $1100 in tokens, and is 73% faster and 80% lower resident memory during sustained interactive use. It is very easy to reverse claude from npm distribution, then reimplement is 1:1. @brankopetric00 2.3GB? Child’s play. My docker image is over 6GB. Why? Weather model with lots of library dependencies and then to do run tests? GBs of boundary conditions because scientists don’t use small data.
