I was informed today that I may have been grossly misled by another creator for financial gain last year, in which I was asked to help save KodiakVT's home. I am feeling absolutely heartbroken and upset.
Kodiakvt aka @warfighterbear now @Kodiak_vt on his new X account had told me he was going to have his home foreclosed on after a single missed payment. I was told today from a real estate agent that it takes 4 Missed payments or 120 days to begin the foreclosure process not one single payment 30 days late. I personally ended up giving him $400 over two payments where he even leveraged my husband being in the military to convince me to help him “urgently” when he couldn’t make a “late fee” and didn’t have enough money for food. He went on to use part of the money given for the "urgent late fee" to buy gifts for another content creator via throne. In the image below a “hooker” is a slang term for an army member that works on chinooks in addition one member of my community donated $700 to him and others donated smaller amounts. Totaling over 1100$ if you include the smaller donations that I don't have details on.
Going forward, I will not promote “personal” fundraisers of other creators as I don’t want to see the wonderful and kind members of my community potentially abused in such a way in the future. I will only support fundraisers, and creators helping legitimate vetted fundraiser organizations. This situation happened in my second month of being a creator and I was unfortunately far too trusting that everyone had the best intentions when I first entered the creator space.
I promoted someone with the best intentions not wanting them to be homeless, only to find out I was being misled which helped them mislead my community members as well. To those in my community I am sorry for this situation that was caused by me being too trusting. I am sorry that I have failed you as a community leader, I hope you will forgive me.
