@RepMcCormick Important to note that in late January, CVS/Caremark sent letters to enrollees stating they're removing desiccated thyroid extract products from their formulary - so patients will have to go out-of-network for access at greater cost (and $$ not counting towards their deductible).

The FDA just took an important step in the right direction for patients living with hypothyroidism, and it also protects jobs here in Georgia. After raising this issue during Energy & Commerce Member Day, I pushed for a commonsense approach, and the FDA confirmed these DTE products will remain available while manufacturers work towards full approval.

Starting April 1, CVS Caremark will no longer cover DTE meds on its standard formulary. We know insurance coverage updates can be stressful, especially if you’re stable, but be assured DTEs are still available. Talk to your provider about Prior Authorization and other care options.

🚨 NEW! This update from the FDA replaces the 12-month doomsday deadline on #DTE with an announcement that "draft guidance" will be prepared. Good news for patients! But would this have affected the CVS/Caremark decision to remove DTE from its formulary had it come sooner?
