Last election, Conservative MP Randy Hoback handed Poilievre a 70-page report on how to manage Trump’s trade war after consulting 290 stakeholders Officials say Poilievre never read it; his office denies it. In it? “Exactly what Carney is talking about" politico.com/news/2026/03/1…

Ontario's public employees union is moaning about going back to work in the office fulltime CBC's reporter, Naama Weingarten, thinks that it's a "childcare" issue "Yeah, so along with commute times, then of course there is childcare that people are going to have to find accommodations for for that additional day that they will be in the office." If you're caring for your children, are you really working fulltime?

Exactly @Sean_Speer All the things you define as “economic reconciliation” are what will lead to Indigenous People beginning to manage prosperity instead of poverty! That is the best outcome of all and for all!!
Sean Speer@Sean_Speer

I hate to weigh into this stuff but I’ve witnessed enough bullshit in recent days that it’s not hard to. The idea that the reason that Indigenous peoples have poorer economic and social outcomes than non-Indigenous Canadians is because they come from a hunter-gatherer culture is precisely wrong. In fact, it’s this type of paternalism that led to the Indian residential school system in the first place and continues to hold too many Indigenous people back. Left- and right-wing paternalism has caused us to impose a form of socialism on Indigneous communities—including limited property rights, large-scale government transfers, poor access to private capital, and so on—and the results are predictably bad. That’s why the most exciting developments these days involve land-use and tax reform, economic partnerships and growing own-source revenues—what the @MLInstitute and others have come to call “economic reconciliation.” The growing number of Indigenous communities thriving today under market-based conditions is a direct rebuttal to the notion that somehow Indigneous peoples are just culturally wired to be poor. Paternalistic policies have made them poor. Freedom, enterprise and self-sufficiency can make them prosperous.

According to @ParksCanada, John Turner is a "national historic person", but not Brian Mulroney. That's like saying Robin was a superhero, but not Batman. For Trudeau Sr, the designation took 7 mos. after his death. 18 mos. for Pearson, 17 mos. for Diefenbaker, but 25 years for Mulroney? Make that make sense.
Blacklock's Reporter@mindingottawa

.@ParksCanada board secretly changed rules on historic designations rather than honour Brian Mulroney following his death in 2024, "held a lively debate," say #cdnfoi records.  blacklocks.ca/pms-divisive-e… #cdnpoli  #ATI @CdnHeritage @Leslie_Weir

@FredDeLorey Unfortunately Fred you are trying to apply logic with people who are illogical and have lost their ability to use any common sense. They think the whole world is out to get them no matter what.

97% of fires in NS are caused by people. Keeping people out of the woods is great prevention. We also have an issue where most land is private (not Crown like the rest) and we get these hurricanes that knock down major areas that aren't easy to clean up.
SLN@SLN74849293

@FredDeLorey No disrespect, but what exactly is NS doing for fire prevention?

This is a really great article that shows what it looks like to be a decent human being even in the Ottawa bubble. Marc Garneau was definitely one of the good ones and many in Ottawa could learn some life lessons from his example. Canadians would benefit. ctvnews.ca/politics/artic…

This whole interview (longer than the clip) is worth watching for the striking lack of humility. Yes, the Conservatives made gains, but ultimately, they blew it. Time to shelve the ego

This is shocking! So much for even a hint of fiscal responsibility. Carney projects 130 BILLION in new spending.

The right policy/economics is clear. Each day that passes w/o a reversal in the EV tariff & attendant end to the canola/seafood tariff..is another day the feds pick Que & Ont over the provs that just don’t have the seats in the defacto unicameral federal seat of confederation.
Brad Wall@BradWall306

If you are aghast at an apparent rise in western Cdn alienation consider that our canola farmers and crush plants workers represent a foundational piece of our economy, towering over the central Cdn EV sector in ec importance. But there are more seats in Upper and Lower 🇨🇦.

Are you serious?! The Trudeau-Carney government drove farm families to the brink with stress and uncertainty through this reckless tax hike. And to make it worse, your Liberal government didn’t even have the decency to consult farmers before making these critical decisions. Carney cannot be trusted. Canadian farmers deserve so much better than this.
Kody Blois@KodyBloisNS

Some good news for farmers and small businesses. Today, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that our government will cancel the capital gains tax hike.  We want to keep family farms in the family and make it an easy choice to take on the family business. I’ve heard loud and clear from small business owners and producers that the proposed hike would hurt them. It’s good to see the Prime Minister take this step and his commitment to making Canada the best place in the world to start or grow your business.
