@martianwyrdlord It's a good summarizer and reddit diy search engine, helpful to get through patches of programming that you are less familiar with (assuming of course you know overall what you're doing), and you can scaffold basic but tedious things quickly. It's useful, not yet revolutionary.

We're now four years into the AI era, and the promised "productivity gains" are not readily apparent. To the contrary, the enshittification of the Internet has accelerated. Whenever anyone notices this, tech guys appear in droves to insist that AI has made them a billion times more productive, that they're getting more done in a nanosecond than they used to get done in a year, and that if you aren't locked in and riding herd over a bunch of chatbots you're going to join the permanent underclass because the singularity is reaching escape velocity. And, okay, maybe. But it also seems possible that this is just a different kind of AI psychosis, in which vibecoders are churning out industrial quantities of workslop that isn't actually useful to anyone, but doing it so quickly that it induces a sensation of professional theosis.

@RichPianian The pope keeps us from seeing these very real people as a math problem to be solved. He also condemned the traffickers taking people into Europe in the same breath. We will win, and we will need the Catholics.

@padua96819 @fubeca150 @Pirat_Nation In what universe are they ever going to get close to the sales they need? I don't think there's any way out of this hole, but going ftp and making a few more micro transactions can't be worse than trying to hawk this thing for $40.

Bungie’s attempt to attract more players to Marathon with Season 2 and a free week has not worked, according to a Forbes report. The update added new content and let everyone play for free for more than a week. While player numbers rose briefly, they quickly dropped again. The game’s future seems dark. I don’t think it will survive much longer jf they dont make it free to play

Do you know how deeply broken a culture has to be to ship this product and let the CEO walk around like this?

@_FlNCH_ @PaulTassi @Forbes They can say it's shooting for Tarkov numbers, but the spend on production was never going to support that. It sounds like cope while they fumble around to try to recoup their many-times-too-high budget.

All I’m saying is that Marathon doesn’t need Destiny numbers to succeed, it’s been said many times. Is 15k daily great? Not exactly but it isn’t bad either. I’d also imagine once the D2 player counts settle down it’ll go back up a little. Liana also said (if i remember correctly) that Bungie is happy with Marathons numbers, remember it was announced way before ARC Raiders, it was never made to compete with that game, rather Tarkov which has a small player base too. Bungie does need to grow the game but player count posting is just such a nothing burger, SteamDB should start charging everyone subscription fees at this point. All it does is breed toxicity and put Marathon down more and more.

@Pirat_Nation Only problem is marathon isn’t a bad game it’s just gotten horrible press and an audience that doesn’t trust bungie. The quality of the game is actually shockingly good

Reports suggest that Bungie could face major layoffs this summer. According to French journalist Sylvain Trinel, as many as 50% of the studio’s employees, including full-time and contract workers, could be affected. Bungie reportedly had around 800 employees after previous layoffs, so a 50% reduction would mean about 400 people losing their jobs. The reported cuts are linked to the end of Destiny 2’s development and problems surrounding Marathon. This has not been confirmed by Bungie or Sony so its just a rumor from now

@favelaoverlord I think the number of times it helps is cancelled out by the number of times it makes output worse.

has anyone who “prompt engineers” actually found it useful? is there any reason to paste these 3 paragraph long prompts into AI instead of just talking like a normal guy to the machine?

There's an art movement I find under-exploited in movies and video games: Formicat-punk, or Giscard-punk. (Giscard d'Estaing was a French president in the late 1970s) This retro-futuristic, typically French style fascinates me. I'd love to work on a universe like that.

@_nonfigurativ_ @augusteprompt Sam is predictable and his incentives can be aligned with in a way that benefits the country. Dario is a messianic wishy-washy sperg always on the precipice of sinking multi party long term planning out of perverted sense of EA superiority.

I’m starting to trust Dario less than Sam. At least with Sam it’s comically transparent how Machiavellian he is, you can practically see the scales. Dario however has the EA disease and believes he’s our lord and saviour, something that is far more dangerous.

Today I'm publishing a new essay, Policy on the AI Exponential. AI is progressing extremely fast—much faster than the policy process was built to handle. The essay lays out where I think the technology is now, and the action needed to close the gap: darioamodei.com/post/policy-on…

i should start a group for people who aren't literally psychotic or completely one-shot some kind of group where only humans who don't have the most brittle and simplistic weltbild, their picture of the world, are allowed in bonus point if youre broad enough to have an interests ranging from branches of theoretical computer science (not just being a compute bag who can write leetcode hards), cognitive science, developmental biology, a penchant for proper abstraction, theory of computation, and actual hobbies that have nothing to do with this (and where the hobby's goal is not about you being a compute bag if possible!) and then we just close off entirely and just collectively block all inputs from retards like this - maybe we have a few tweeners who still take in inputs and report and that's it
