The solution is to exempt farms which earn most income from farming. Big farms shouldn’t be penalised as they produce most of our food. Eg raspberry growers. But they won’t do that I don’t think bc they’re intent on pushing through the Tory Brexit and likely the USA fta. USA 🇺🇸 Chlorinated Chicken Or Bre-Turn To EU? youtu.be/5HVtJ-AdODw

@JolyonMaugham I think we might need to look to the clinicians handing mentally vulnerable children hormone treatments and mind altering SSRI/SNRI medications like skittles first, I think there might be a causal relationship between that and the 40% self deletion rate

@RoryStewartUK Indeed. So was I. It’s perfectly normal to be wrong, the question is why? For me it was underestimating the way that people are desperate to be better off and will believe anything said to achieve it. See brexit.

@TheOldCootBiker @autosport Cut and paste but it keeps applying to you lot. Fuck me, are you really this stupid. How many times do u have to be told that flags have nothing to do with stewards!!!!! Learn even the basics of F1 before you start complaining.

He is right though. Its been ridiculous this weekend. As soon as Alonso crashes, the red flag comes out (mainly because Max was not in the session). Who are the stewards this weekend? Is Johnny Herbert one of them? If so, there is the answer as to why. Get him out of there! #F1 #BrazilGP

@JHallHDI @DanNeidle There are some things I agree with Dan on, some I don’t. I think generally he tries to be very thoughtful, however occasionally he gets something wrong. With all that said, he’s nobody’s shill and that rather exposes your own bias views.

@DanNeidle You really are exposed as a Labour shill now. I don’t believe most schools acted recklessly (although it’s a nice trope to divert the critics with) but what has been exposed is the extent to which the class warriors are grinding the boot on parents.

A horrible mess for some private school parents who paid fees in advance to try to avoid Labour's VAT hike. And it's entirely the fault of the private schools and their associations. A quick thread on how to avoid VAT successfully, and how the schools didn't..

@NobleF1 It was a clear infringement. His front wheel went beyond the back of Oscar’s before the VSC ended. Slam dunk penalty. Btw there can’t be any complaint from max as the reason we have the rule is because of his dirty tactics in previous years.

@WG_RumblePants Tandulkar and Lara both at edgbaston. I watched warne there as well, but it’s not as easy to see his spin bowling skills when you watch live.

This might depend on what generation you are, but who is the best cricketer you’ve ever had the privilege to watch live? For me it’s a toss up between Anderson and Root, but I’d go with Anderson. I’ve seen him do things with the ball that seemed impossible.

🇧🇷🗣️ | Max doesn't care about criticism on his driving style compared to Aryton Senna or Michael Schumacher "I don't care about compliments, I want to win. And I always give it my all! That's probably what links me to drivers like Michael. He also never left any stone unturned to maximise his chances of success. Both in the car with his driving style and outside of it when it came to developing the car. There is no room for fear - but you also have to use your common sense." @DanNeidle It’s amazing how many of the media set have brought land to avoid paying for IHT - it’s clearly the reason why they are complaining so much. Here in N Dorset huge amounts of land are brought to avoid IHT, it’s pushed up land prices and reduced the amount of farming that’s done.

Lots of over-the-top coverage right now about the £1m cap on inheritance tax agricultural property relief (APR). Quick thread:

@adam_copp @moving_charlie @Summers_AD Indeed there are many many ways for a real farm to avoid it. Putting the farm into a trust, a limited company and slowly building up the share your kids get as you get older etc. The truth is that so many people (wealthy or from London) have come to rural areas and brought land

Sigh, I still have a lot of Budget docs to read and cannot spend my whole evening doing this but go on I'll do one more... £1m relief is on top of £1m couple allowance, so really £2m+ farms only. Only around 200 estates per year affected (av estate value £6m), just isn't armageddon for small family farms.
Kirstie Allsopp@KirstieMAllsopp

@CarolineCoramUK Imposing inheritance tax of 20% on farms worth over a million. Which is the case for many farms these days, this is money those families never want to realise.

@PJTheEconomist Where you not listening when the OBR said that the then govt were withholding (negative) information that would have made a material difference to the March forecast? The markets are now factoring in higher rates for longer so depressing growth more. (Due to that info).
