I’ve said it before, Dominik Szoboszlai was arguably the first name on the teamsheet last season. The question now is where he fits under Andoni Iraola. Unless Iraola views him as the player best suited to the role Alex Scott performs, I’m struggling to see a position where he’s the clear first-choice option. You can argue he can play on the right, as a No.10 or even right-back when required, but in each of those roles he’d likely be competing rather than owning the position. And that’s the dilemma. A player of Szoboszlai’s quality is far too good to spend his prime years as somebody’s second choice. Personally, I think he will be 1 of the 2 in midfield, then that leaves the question who is the best option to support him? Then it goes on to, what happens with Mac or Jones? Both go?

I can see us signing Diomande and a striker who is comfortable playing the second striker role. No chance Iraola will trust Szobo deep as he was the pressing trigger when they played us at Anfield.

More likely it points to Wirtz playing from the left, his best position, with Rio and Munoz as cover. Munoz also provides cover on the right wing to Diomande.
