So many people are talking about Iran, we figured we would talk to someone from Iran. Tonight's Offensive will be shattering many a Sperg-Right delusion, with our special guest @hiitsmemooneh!

@Steeplemaster @frpercylewis Both would be bad. But let's not pretend that the Anglicans aren't on a another level of awful. Not only are they dying out, they are doing it in the most undignified pitiful way possible.

God is not the arbiter of morality. Whatever he commands isn’t fundamentally good. When he commands genocide, reject him. When he commands infanticide, reject him. I thought Christians were pro life?

@edwin_bens19985 @realKellyKnight Peter was around for 20 years after James died. There was plenty of time and people to replace James but he didn't. To suggest the Apostles were caught by surprise doesn't hold water when you realize their lack of planning for contingencies.

@KyleIgnatius @realKellyKnight No, they gave us agency to choose for ourselves. People chose to kill the Apostles, except John who's still alive. The keys (authority to perform Priesthood ordinances) were then lost.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is not a social club. It is not a democracy. It is not a casual organization of like-minded people. It is, however, the Kingdom of God on the earth. It is Zion. It is the only organization on earth through which the ordinances and covenants necessary to return to the presence of God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. It is led by a prophet of God, just as Moses lead the children of Israel to the promised land. This is a very real, very important, and very sacred organization, and I am grateful to be part of it.

@edwin_bens19985 @realKellyKnight God knew that without Apostles the Church would fail. God didn't appoint Apostles despite there being good and faithful followers of Christ. Therefore he caused it or at the very least orchestrated it.

@TruthHolder2023 @realKellyKnight Warn them about what? The Apostles not appointing successors which is the whole reason for the apostasy in the first place leaving the faithful to their own whims? Yes, as far as I can tell within Mormonism your God deliberately orchestrated the great apostasy.

Is that how you see things? That God orchestrates failures due to mens' disobedience? Christ warned the people. Paul warned the people. John warned the people. Peter warned the people. Jude warned the people. And, yet, they killed the Savior and the Apostles. Paul said it best: "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables." Christ prophecied of a restoration, "And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things." And, John the Revelator prophesied of tjos restoration, too: "And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters."

@realKellyKnight So God and Jesus deliberately orchestrated the apostasy to fulfill prophecy? Leaving the faithful that remained and their children subject not to God but to man and devoided the faithful of the saving ordinances?

@KyleIgnatius "Let it fail at first?" They didn’t ‘let it fail.’ Jesus and the apostles predicted a falling away (2 Thess 2:3; Acts 20:29–30). Apostasy wasn’t a mistake — it was part of the timeline leading to a future restoration before Christ’s return.

@churchofengland @StPaulsLondon Its nice for the Church of England to remember it's formally Christian roots. As the COE embraces pluralism, modernity and dispenses with the past.

Did you know that the oldest recorded poem in English is about Good Friday? This is The Dream of the Rood - a poem where the cross of Christ talks to the poet about the crucifixion - read in Old English by Dr Alexandra Zhirnova, at @StPaulsLondon.

Another Mormon dilemma: Mormons reject the Trinity and insist that their god the father, Holy Ghost and Jesus are three separate and distinct individuals. With this doctrine, their Jesus is not the son of god, but the son of their Holy Ghost. This breaks the biblical connection between their Jesus Christianity. According to scripture: Matthew 1:18: Mary “was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 1:20: “What is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.” Luke 1:35: “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.” This explains why Brigham Young and other Mormon ‘prophets’ and ‘apostles’ claimed their god the father conceived their Jesus the old fashioned way, it’s the only way he could be the son of god. But that explanation also severs the link between their Jesus and the Bible. Mormons are wrong either way. The Mormon Jesus is not the Christ of the Bible. Checkmate, heretics.

@antiantimormon During the time of Joseph Smith there men like John Henry Newman, Soren Kirkegard. Yet Joseph called these sincere men corrupt when he accused all religious professors of being corrupt. They weren't and he was just a liar.

Why was a mocked, barely literate, “farm boy” able to recover biblical truths that elite theologians missed? Joseph Smith helped restore biblical understanding of: A foretold apostasy A real church with apostles, prophets, ordinances, and authority Baptism for the dead The pattern of God revealing truth through prophets Understanding of the fall, agency, and our purpose of life Understanding of the afterlife, degrees of glory, and that there will not be eternal suffering The literal gathering of Israel and the covenant identity of God’s people That Zion is both a people and a place to be established on the earth The necessity of priesthood authority for valid ordinances The gift of the Holy Ghost as a distinct ordinance by the laying on of hands Continuing revelation as a constant, not a closed canon The reality and role of angels as ministering beings sent from God The premortal existence of humanity as spirit children of God The divine potential of mankind as heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ The true nature of God as an exalted, embodied being The identity and mission of Jesus Christ as the central figure of all dispensations The restoration of spiritual gifts such as prophecy, healing, tongues, and visions The importance of covenants as binding relationships between God and His people The role of temples as places of revelation, covenant-making, and instruction anciently and in modern times Joseph Smith was a prophet and received revelation directly from God.

@JoshuaSwin32372 @MattTestifies "No historical, biblical, or ecclesiastical foundation" I'mma stop you right there. That's straight crap. Basically every ordinance and practice of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has roots in Biblical Text and History.

One of the strongest arguments for the Restoration is watching how loudly people insist it was not needed while also proving, in real time, why it was. Confusion over doctrine. Confusion over authority. Confusion over ordinances. Confusion over the Church Christ actually established. That’s no small problem. That is the problem.

@MattTestifies LDS themselves are very confused on how the apostasy even happened. If I were to base it on the New Testament and 2nd century early history one could make the argument that the Apostles were utterly incompetent or engineered the apostasy.

I love that members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints fill X with messages about Christ. We are members of the Church of Jesus Christ. It's not the Church of Mormon. It's not the Church of John the Baptist. It is the Church of JESUS CHRIST. We testify that Jesus of Nazareth lived a sinless life and is the Lamb of God. He was crucified, and his body was placed in a tomb. After 3 days, he rose from the grave. He appeared to many after His resurrection. He is the Christ.
