@AllenFO37317233 @NoblesLawFirm The UK only shifted away from using soccer in the late 20th century because it started to be perceived as too much of an Americanism.

@LabSound67745 @NoblesLawFirm our football came from Rugby Football. Soccer came from the UK. we imported that from them. when FIFA was establish, the UK adopted football.

@JohnCoolTrivia US, Canada, and Australia kept using it to easily differentiate it from their own popular regional football codes. It is just a fun quirk of linguistic history

@LabSound67745 Fun Facts: 1) "Soccer Saturday" is a popular TV show in England. 2) The word "soccer" is an English word that means "association football" instead of "rugby football" and has been around for over 100 years. 3) Australia and Canada say "soccer" as well.

@CWars119 If those pirates hadn't captured Joseph Dombey and his copper kilogram in 1793, probably be using Celsius and meters today. Talk about a historical butterfly effect.

@LabSound67745 We already have accepted the metric system, only where it's useful though(global industry) and use imperical for daily use since it's more relative to how we feel. Should look into The Shipwreck of 1793 because it is why we don't use metric in the US funny story

@upperwestbruin It makes sense why they keep the names separate since American football is their biggest sport.

@LabSound67745 Never especially not after we played the socceroos that didnt help. We were taught it as soccer so the Americans that like it will call it that. We also have a national sport with the same name that's became much more popular in America.

@LabSound67745 Don’t really see a reason to change. If I’m talking to Brits, I call it football. To Americans, soccer. To my Spanish-speaking friends, it’s futbol. In the end, it’s the beautiful game no matter what you call it.

Great games great people I live in Kansas City this has been incredible. I am a little disappointed in Royals. I wish they would had some specials deals for people with foreign passports. It’s a beautiful place to watch a game and an opportunity to provide our guests with fun experience. They suck so it’s not like they would be out anything

A naturalized citizen can't become president. But they can get a lifetime appointment to the federal bench and strike down laws that affect every American. That's a gap in the rules worth talking about.
