10 years ago today, we performed the first equine PET @ucdavisvetmed It was academic curiosity at the time, but now with 12 active scanners, thousands of horses have been imaged and more to come. What a great adventure! @equinepet @Grayson_JC @ucdavis_ceh

@NeverSettleTV @santaanitapark Thank you Amy! TSG and Santa Anita have been instrumental in the development of equine PET in racehorses. It is very exciting to see PET use grow every year, with now over 800 studies performed at SA in just under 4 years! We for sure have learned a lot!

Numbers are going up, more than 150 studies have been performed to date in 2023, none of these are research sponsored. Current scans are a combination of diagnostic purpose, follow-up, screening and regulatory.

@Animalsheltrdoc @MarkoBerner @Cubpower44 @ThoroFan Unfortunately the PET scanner in CA hasnt been used all that much except for initial research. I read a bunch of the scans. A reg CT would almost be better imo but anything is better than nothing but just having the scanner doesnt mean they will use it

Enjoying a farm tour in Saratoga and tour guide who is on a racing board said it was announced PET scan unit coming to Belmont Park and possibly to Saratoga as well. Also said that Belmont grandstand will be torn down as early as this fall and as late as this February. Being replaced with what Joe Applebaum has been said to claim will be a truly amazing facility.
