On Feb. 20, the Carney government released a short statement about the “šxʷq̓ʷal̕təl̕tən Rights Recognition Agreement.” The incomprehensible title refers to a land-claim agreement with the Musqueam Indian Band that will affect most of Greater Vancouver. I can truthfully say this news release is the strangest event I have seen in half-century of observing Indigenous affairs in Canada. Here’s why. Normally, governments announce land-claim agreements with great fanfare, but this one was buried in a fisheries agreement. Even David Eby, the premier of British Columbia, says he was not notified, which is itself incomprehensible. How can the federal government negotiate a major agreement affecting the province’s largest city without notifying the provincial government? The text of such agreements is always made public because the agreements become part of Canadian law, but neither the federal government nor the Musqueam has released the text of this one. It was leaked on March 3 in a Scribd version and can be read in some media accounts, but it’s been withdrawn from Scribd (a digital library service) so it cannot be downloaded. Apparently, the government still doesn’t want the public to see the agreement. According to the text of the agreement, it’s not a treaty or a land-claim agreement—but what should you call it? It’s legally enforceable, and recognizes Musqueam rights and title over most of Greater Vancouver, containing about 1.8 million people. Never before in Canada has Aboriginal title been recognized over a densely-populated area already replete with private titles for residences and businesses. The agreement includes the area near Richmond over which the Cowichan recently received Aboriginal title in a court decision. Carney and his entourage billed taxpayers $159,000 for airplane food during a week-long trip to Athens, Abu Dhabi, Johannesburg and the Canary Islands. Carney also billed you $94,000 on airplane food during a trip to Italy in 2025. That’s more than double what Trudeau spent on airplane food during his trip to Italy the year before. Even when Trudeau spent $220,000 on airplane food during a trip to the Indo-Pacific, the cost worked out to $4,200 per hour. That’s still less than Carney spent on his trip to Italy. Carney spent $21,158 on airplane food during a three-hour roundtrip to Washington D.C. That’s $7,000 per hour on airplane food. Carney and crew also spent $60,000 on airplane food during a visit to Paris and London, and $50,000 during a trip to Belgium and the Netherlands. Meanwhile, other politicians and bureaucrats are proving it is possible to spend less while travelling abroad. Former defence minister Bill Blair took an international trip last year. Blair’s delegation spent just $2,350 on airplane food during the entire 12-day trip. The government’s chief of defence staff went to Washington, D.C., with members of the Canadian Armed Forces last March. They billed taxpayers zero dollars for airplane food, according to government records. Franco’s note: The government told you it would cut down on these extravagant international trips but spending half a million dollars on airplane food doesn’t exactly scream fiscal responsibility.

Franklin Graham has finally, fully exposed himself as an apostate, harming the name of Christianity, defending the man Donald Trump at the expense of the Son of God, Jesus. On Piers Morgan, Graham challenged the Pope’s interpretation of Isaiah 1:15 in which the prophet condemns leaders that shed innocent blood. The pastor claimed that God does take sides in war, mentioning King David. What Graham failed to observe, however, was that same God imposed severe punishment on King David when he shed innocent blood (Bathsheba’s husband). Graham then dropped this bombshell mischaracterization of the Bible: “Graham explained there are just wars, singling out World War II as an example, and went on to claim that the Iranian regime has become "a danger to the whole world." He ultimately blamed Iran for the approximately 70,000 Palestinian deaths in Gaza since October 2023, as well as for the thousands of deaths in Lebanon and Yemen.” To twist biblical truth is unforgivable for a pastor of the word. But to grotesquely twist the culpability of Israel and the US who started this current war and Israel who killed 70,000 Palestinians in a gross overreaction to their otherwise just right to respond after 10/7 is on their hands.
