Here is a resource I used with my Y10s today. The aim was to develop their problem solving skills further. Once they got over the unfamiliarity of the resource, they worked well and got the majority of questions correct.

I'm really interested in this Pointon & Sangwin taxonomy thing so i've put this together this afternoon on the theme of right angled trigonometry. I'll happily post a link to dropbox to download this but firstly would love to hear some feedback on this. Particularly on 5, 7, 8!

@JeggedMaths No i absolutely agree with you, there is even an obtuse trapezium, but what would a quadrilateral with no parallel lines and all sides different length be called?

@MiddletonMaths All trapeziums have one set of parallel sides? A lean-to shed I would describe as scalene trapezium, isosceles triangle with top cut off is an isosceles trapezium. I’ve definitely seen isosceles trapezium in white rose resources

If a scalene triangle is a triangle with all sides and lengths different. What do we call a quadrilateral with the same properties? A scalene quadrilateral?

@JeggedMaths Would that assume there is a set of parallel sides, what if there isn't any parallel sides?

@MiddletonMaths You can have an isosceles trapezium so why not a scalene?
