@Cfordc83 Market saturation is real but agents who specialize in one niche always stand out. Property management focused agents especially since most generalists avoid the operational complexity.

@DCLandlord Newsletters like this are how landlords actually stay current on compliance changes. Most of the expensive mistakes come from not knowing about new requirements until a violation notice shows up.

@CjmManagement April maintenance is underrated. Most landlords skip seasonal checks and pay for it when small issues become expensive repairs by fall. A simple quarterly checklist catches everything early.

@made2homeschool Free workshops like this are gold for first-year homeschool parents. Most of the overwhelm comes from not having a clear weekly structure. Once the plan is set everything gets calmer.

@MovingSimcoe Clear in communication and consistent in process are the two that matter most. Responsive operators with documented systems stand out immediately. Are you looking province-wide or Simcoe County specifically?

@terryinvestgrp AI screening is interesting but the fundamentals still matter. Income ratios, reference checks, rental history scoring. Technology speeds up the process but the criteria need to be airtight first.

@VestioCapital Tenant screening by far. Automated rent collection saves time but a bad tenant costs 10x what late rent does. Getting the screening process bulletproof is the highest ROI move in multifamily.

@AssetraPM Screening is the one step where being thorough upfront saves thousands later. Income verification plus consistent scoring removes the guesswork entirely. Most landlords skip the scorecard and pay for it within 6 months.

@mom_of_littles Design matters more than people think. A poorly structured resource wastes more time than no resource at all. The best ones have clear weekly plans so parents stop making daily decisions from scratch.

@armondboudreaux Problem solving books are underrated in homeschool. Most parents default to worksheets when project-based resources build way deeper thinking skills. Which ones did you add?

As a college English professor at an “access institution,” I have been watching the demise of literacy in real time. (For some of that time, I have worked under administrators whose answer to the problem was to give us subtle hints that we should allow students to “use“ AI to “help them” with “writing” their papers.) As literacy has declined among my students, so has their curiosity and ability to think. I only teach at one institution, so I don’t know how representative my students are. But my gut tells me that we are heading for something apocalyptic.
Tyler Austin Harper@Tyler_A_Harper

What we think of as modern civilization is essentially coextensive with mass literacy. People greeting the end of mass literacy with a yawn are assuming that we can keep this machine work going in the absence of the foundations it was built on. Huge civilizational-scale gamble.

Something I’ve noticed about the way my kid is being taught reading and writing. The curriculum is full of sophisticated concepts (thesis statements, transitions, citation) and completely ignores things 8 yr olds should be mastering like parts of speech, types of sentences, etc

@Jacksaltel Smart move. The demand for learn-by-doing AI tools is massive right now. How are you handling the gap between generating code and actually understanding what it does?

@jasonvonholmes Fair point. The curriculum itself is rarely the bottleneck. It is the lack of a weekly delivery system. Most parents have great materials sitting unused because the planning overhead kills momentum.

I homeschool my 3rd-grade daughter, and part of her curriculum is cursive writing. She’s been getting better with her handwriting and her sentences, and that makes me proud. It took a lot of work to get her to finally take writing seriously, so seeing the progress means a lot.

@techhalla Exactly. The constraint IS the craft. Most people skip the context and format steps entirely then wonder why AI gives generic output. A well-structured brief beats a clever one-liner every time.

@FazFuzzy Real projects teach real lessons. Tutorial apps never force you to handle edge cases or user complaints. Building something people actually use changes how you think about code entirely.

Son is displaying some pretty severe ADHD behavior along with his sensory processing stuff. Pediatrician gave me an evaluation to fill out. Nurse called me back today. Here’s how the convo went. Nurse (super nice): so Dr said it does look like he’s showing some early signs of ADHD. Dr wants to repeat the evaluation in November after he starts school so the teacher can get to know him and fill out the eval. Me: okay and what if we’re homeschooling? Nurse (super rude): uh. IS that what you’re doing? Me: yeah that’s why I said that Nurse (even more rude): okay well if that’s the case then this (the ADHD) doesn’t even matter Me: ……. Like what the heck?? Does ADHD only affect kids negatively when they’re in public school? I hung up the phone after she said that.
