Nailed it, Yoshi! This was one of my fave ship designs I did in the book, it’s always fun to see the concept art that Yoshi and others do to bring my designs to life even more for the animation. Awesome!

Version 1.8 of Minecraft: Oldschool Edition is out! -Vulkan support -FSR3.1 -New Sky World Gen -Infdev World Gen -Better multiplayer voice chat -Better controller support -Isometric Screenshots And MUCH more!

Now onto working on the Modding API for 1.9 The goal is to get it to be as sophisticated as modern Fabric

I beat Mojang to building a Vulkan renderer for Minecraft Java Edition. Only it's for a heavily modified Beta 1.7.3 engine :)

@bewoxito It’s a heavily modified b1.7.3 engine with QOL additions, forward ported features from earlier versions (like ladder gaps and boat elevators), alternate game modes and generators, among like 50 other additions haha Think of it as the most complete version of Oldschool Minecraft

@JoshuHigashikat @_realmanzoor @notch When I was a teenager I emailed Jens and asked if Mojang had internships, he replied and apologized that they did not. Very rewarding that years later that both he and Markus recognize my own fan project. It’s really heart warming and motivating.

If Mojang ever wants to steal my code and make this an official version of the game in the launcher, I’ll gladly fork over the source code to them for free

@Soroxas474262 Actually I've already refactored a lot of the item/block systems and the texture engine to function a lot like modern Minecraft so probably not! I do hope to put out a Modding API eventually though :)

@MinecraftOSE Runs great, what do you plan on doing with it? Would you ever try this in a later version like 1.12.2 or 1.20.1?

@musabagriyanikk Surprisingly, not a lot! Beta Minecraft I’ve found is mostly CPU-bottlenecked. OpenGL and Vulkan get fairly similar performance currently, but Vulkan will allow for better hardware utilization in the future:)

@MinecraftOSE I wonder what differences have you seen by replacing OpenGL with Vulkan, seeing someone does that themself might give an idea of how it might be when Vulkan arrives in Minecraft officially.

@MinecraftOSE Oh neat! This is like the best case scenario on why it was made, at least for me :D I was orginally going to reply with me bragging about the new engine I'm working on, but I'm trying to underpromise here. But for real, now I'm even more inspired to get started with my day :D
