I am an STF teacher. I am confident that the president, executive, and senior STF leadership are representing my views, listening to teachers, and are standing up for public education. This is a flimsy attempt to create an appearance of division in a unified membership. #weareSTF

Advocacy may occur in closed meetings; however, if boards remain silent publicly, they become complicit in the misinformation and deception that is being attempted by government.
School boards should not fear retribution for making statements that contradict government positions.

Scott Moe has made it clear - funding public education is not his priority.
From 2015 - 2020, public education received a pitiful 7% increase in funding while private education received an 88% increase in the same time period.

To help address classroom space impacted by our growing province, we are providing $32 million in new funding for 45 additional relocatable classrooms. Communities receiving relocatables include Humboldt, Lloydminster, Lumsden, Pilot Butte, Regina, Saskatoon, Warman and Weyburn.

The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation says it has turned down an invitation from the provincial government to resume negotiations because the Government-Trustee Bargaining Committee said it hadn’t been given a new bargaining mandate.

"Look - we are doing something" ... another distraction tactic, not a real solution.
"We added $40M in funding" ... education is $400M short.
"Teachers walked away" ... government didn't show up.
Anyone else getting tired of these sad attempts to avoid the problems they created?

After working with a committee comprised of partners in the education sector, a new formula has been developed for ongoing support for school divisions that see a substantial increase in enrolment growth past September 30. On June 1, 2023 an additional $40 million was provided to Saskatchewan’s 27 school divisions to support enrolment growth and the complexity of today’s classrooms. This new formula ensures that our government continues to fund enrolment increases to support students, teachers and staff in the classroom.

We set aside two full days to bargain in good faith with the Government-Trustee Bargaining Committee (GTBC).
Today, they didn't even bother to show up.
Our kids deserve better than not showing up.
