There are so many Somali daycares in Washington State that every Somali woman would have to birth 28 children for demand to explain supply. Full article in top comment. "An entity registered with the state as dissolved received thousands in government funds, caretakers licensed for only a few children report hundreds of thousands in earnings or sales, and nonprofits receiving six-figure grants don’t even have working phone numbers." Last week, I visited one of these "schools" with my mother right after she picked me up from a flight into SeaTac. It was only 15 minutes away from the airport. On our short drive, we passed several school busses. It was right around the time kids would be leaving school. When we arrived, we saw nothing. No kids. No parents waiting in cars. No school busses. Not even a sign. We say an empty, dilapidated building with rotten holes in its siding, sagging and dirty blinds (choking hazard), and some rooms filled to the ceiling with boxes (fall hazard). All entrances were fenced off, and it looked like the only way in was through the church-converted-to-a-mosque that shared a courtyard with the "school." Attached are photos of the building's rear, overgrown with blackberry bushes. A knocked-over basketball hoop was outside the fence, lying feet away from where cars would drive through the alleyway. This is not a safe play area for children. Nevertheless, the school receives support from WA State in the six-figure range. I started working on this three months ago with my friend and National Review writer, @abigailandwords . Every time we thought we were done, we found more shocking details. The project has been split into 3 articles. This is the second. You will not believe the final installment. Stay tuned.

Jeff Blehar is *BOX OFFICE POISON*
Earlier this month, I took a stroll through a beautiful graveyard. At @NRO, the result is a very different sort of "Our Spacious Skies." A dreaded sunny day, so let's go where we're happy - and I'll meet you at the cemetry gates.

I spent a whole day visiting the Seattle daycares featured in my @NRO article with @abigailandwords about inexplicable spending by @waDCYF . Most did not answer when I knocked. If there were children inside, thick curtains blocked any natural sunlight for them. Neighbors were unaware of daycares a one-minute walk away. Confused residents said that they had no knowledge of a daycare at their address, to which Washington State paid nearly $500,000 last year. WA State Attorney General Nick Brown said that he would focus on prosecuting journalism like this instead of investigating welfare fraud. The State Auditor stated that DCYF records are so bad that millions of dollars over the past four years have been un-auditable. This violates the terms of their federal funding. This video is only half of the footage we captured. Stay tuned.

Believe it or not, kids, but there was a time when the headline “widely beloved powerful man turns out to be a sexual predator and a creep” was genuinely surprising. There is danger in putting someone up on a pedestal, and there is particular risk when a heroic mythology gets cultivated around a particular leader, or when the man and the cause become so intertwined that what’s bad for the man is seen as dangerous for his entire movement. nationalreview.com/the-morning-jo…

We publish only one poem in each issue of @NRO; the choice is normally difficult. Choosing this was not: @ehutchinson1513

"Those are the voters who contribute at the margins to a victorious national electoral coalition, but they are not Trump’s “core base.” Those who believe that they represent the purest version of the “MAGA” right might reflect on that when they presume to speak for the voters that only Trump himself commands." nationalreview.com/2026/03/the-pr…

.@RichLowry: If America isn't more careful about taking in people from places that espouse antisemitism or anti-Americanism, more attacks like those at ODU and Michigan could be coming.
