Grad students and postdocs need our support. 
I know the challenges they face firsthand. When I was at the university, I helped them secure funding, food, housing and heating. 
They have the ideas, do research now, and are also the future of research. 
Time to invest.

Research is essential to the health, prosperity and security of Canada. Canadian researchers have a long history of achievement. Investment in researchers, postdocs and grad students means new discoveries-treatments, climate solutions, technologies, and a better future for all.

Researchers work to save lives, improve healthcare, address the climate crisis and build a better future for Canadians.   A future driven by knowledge, forged by curiosity and a quest for understanding.   It’s time to invest in researchers, postdocs and grad students.

One piece of good news: post-secondary educational institutions will now be excluded from the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act, preventing them from using bankruptcy protection to skirt their obligations to their employees. Congratulations to @CAUT_ACPPU on this win. #FES2023

I was surprised that increases to federal support for graduate students was not in #budget2023. Will there be support for research and science in today’s #FES2023?

Sometimes lobbying federally of late reminds me of parenting as I have 3 kids. If they were named 1) the federal gov 2) the provinces and 3) the private sector, I would tell #1, but I am talking to you right now. Not them (pointing at 2 and 3). # 1 What are you going to do?

One huge challenge with mentorship is that Indigenous mentors are tasked with responsibilities but not the credit for tenure & promotion. This is a great point, but not a new one. Why this remains a problem in 2023 is incomprehensible.🤦🏻 #CSPC2023

Consider two-step admissions: admit students who lack some prerequisites into streams that allow them to obtain courses. Introduces them to university life, while supporting education. #CSPC2023
